There are three ways this can be done.

2) You can have the system administrator program a call pickup group.
3) You can ascertane the directed call pickup feature code from your system administrator.
Fatal exception error
Those are just messages about the stream sockets closing without the protocol closing the connection cleanly. What that means is that the Data network is not configured correctly, I assume somebody made a change or upgraded a network switch and didn't configure it correctly.
Message light flashing
this is a callback message it is activated by pressing the message key while the called party is ringing. To remove it you must answer a call between the two.
Mitel 5224 keeps flashing message but is no message
This sounds like you have a call back message active on your phone, The callback is a through back to the days before we had Voice-mail, if you wanted a person to call you back you could activate their message light by pressing your message key while the called phone was ringing. To remove the light you would lift your handset and press the message key then select which party you wished to "callback", once the call was answered at the other end the light would be extinguished. Give this a try, I bet you will be surprised at the results.
Mitel 5220 IP phone won't ring when the main line is ringing
WOW
Ok this post is OLD, but for anyone else having this issue, this is the solution...
There is a programming feature that states: DELAYED RING on certain lines, meaning you can physically see a call coming in to the system (via line flashing), but it will not ring at your desk till something like the 4th ring(hence the name DELAYED ring).
If your set does not ring, and you pick up the heandset, the phone system doesn't know if you want to answer the call -or- you just want to make an outgoing call...
Therefore the Mitel system picks up internal dialtone and waits for you to make the initial reaction (hit 9 for a line out or hit a line that is flashing on the set).
Too change this option, a Mitel Tech is required...
Mitel 5220 ip phone locked out
Make sure that it is a Dual Mode 5220. If it is you can use it as a SIP extension. It wiill say it on the back of the Mitel phone next to the 5220.
If it is a dual mode phone you can purchase a sip trunk from a provider and then would be able to use the phone.
When you boot up the phone hold the blue super key while the phone boots, hit the no softkey till you get to phone mode. Hit yes it will allow you to change the phone from minet to sip. This should get you started in the right direction.
Updare Mitel 5220
Are you attempting to upgrade the firmware on the phone, or the phone system itself?
We have a SX-200 ICP and are currently in the process of upgrading so our teleworkers can use newer phones than the 5220's. It requires you have a current support agreement with your vendor because you have to be able to log into Mitel's Application Management Center (
http://www.mitel-amc.com).
