With the JVC D-series TV do you need a Remote
No. Almost all TVs can be turned on manually.
However, those of us who are TRUE couch potatoes would NEVER rise from our seated positions to do ANYTHING manually when there are remotes that allow one to do the same thing from a comfortable distance!!!
If you look on the right side or across the bottom front of the unit, you will see the various buttons for power-on, volume, channel selections, etc....
Black box appears on every channel
Hi:
This black box is the close caption box, you must of turned the feature on. Go into you menu setup screen and under CC option turn off Close Captoin, or you may have a CC button on your remote that you hit by mistake, try hitting this button until it says Close Caption off.

You might want to take the back cover off and look for blown fuses in the power supply.
Just follow the power cord and you should find one or two fuses in the main circuit board. They`ll have a broken or burnt filament inside the glass enclosure and their values will be written on the end caps.
Replace them, but if they blow again then it means you`ll need repair before the set will work again.
Hope this will help Good luck

DO I NEED A DIGITAL CONVERTER TO OPERATE A 4 YEAR
If you have cable running to your house, cable still uses RF and older TVs work fine. The problem comes when you try to grab stations from the air. The signal is still UHF, but the information riding on that UHF signal is digital, and will need a converter box to turn it back to analog so your older TV will understand it.

Cable: None needed.
.
Antenna: Need a box.
I suddenly cannot change the channels with my
good day to you k_leonard. i have several suggestions to this problem. check the batteries in the remote, some batteries will not work completely if it is less than .5 volts. test the remote against another set or an infared indidicator card.test the remote against a portable radio(noise will be generated in the radio, if the remote is working). wipe off the ends of the batteries with a cloth. check to see if there are any broken parts in the remote to see if it has been dropped. please rate my solution.
I have cable hook up through a normal cable and I
You should be able to go into the menu settings and select channel, then Antenna, then the type of source your have, Air, or cable...select one then press enter, or ok...should do everything for you.
JVC AV-20FD24 will not pick
On the JVC remote there should be a setup button. Sometimes they call this Main. Regardless, once in setup you'll need to change the input from cable to antenna. This should solve your problem.
My tv wont come on just makes a clicking noise and
You got a issue with the powersupply unit inside I would recommend getting it checked out.
1. you could have a bad capacitor
2. you could have a bad fuse
3. if its a flyback system that also would need to be checked.
Get a estimate if its costing you more then $150 think about getting yourself a new tv as these are not worth it to fix if it cost over adverage.

Seems to me you should have to contact a technician to adjust manually
the circuit side of it. Usually the screen and focus control knob on
the flyback to adjust the settings.
