Supergirl tv doesn't stay on
This is an indication that there might be a cold solder connection in your unit. I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technincian look at your set to see if this is the problem. I don't believe that you have a startup circuit or a IHVT/HOT problem because you are able to get the unit working at times by plugging the set in. This sounds like a case of poor circuit board work. Just in case it is a startup circuit issue, you may have a faulty component in the primary power supply that provide voltage to the startup circuit.
Dvd's not playing
This might be a problem with the alignment of the actual laser in your device. You mentioned that you cleaned the player? Question, how? The reason I ask is because if you used alcohol and canned air you many have left a residue on the laser facet which would cause such a problem. I would suggest that you use an apporved fiber optic cleaning solution and attempt to clean the laser, (it is best to let a pro do this). Then check the laser alignment and power with a laser power meter.
Tv/dvd combo only plays dvd's in black and white
Finally figured this out. On your remote push tv menu until you get to function. You should automatically be under col.sys. change this to NTSC. Took me awhile to get remote to work here, ended up pushing in the middle of the red vol +,- bar on the right of the remote. Couldn't find the right button according to the directions on the screen. DVD is now in color!! If you are not already on the option to change col.sys, use the red channel up down bar on the left of the remote.
HELLP ME
This sounds like it could be a tape sensor problem. Granted this is the worse case, but this is what this sounds like. In VCRs as the tape is pulled around the drum, a sensor determines if the tape is in the proper position. However if the tape is not the sensor triggers an unload sequence which unloads the tape and sometimes auto ejects the tape. I would forst try to use another tape just to see that it is not a tape problem (which 9 times out of 10 it will not be). After trying the new tape, see if you can get this looked at, by a qualified technician. I have done these repairs before and if it is an optical sensor what usually happens is magnetic dust gets on the sensor lens and causes problems, if the sensor is the switch type the switch tends to get out of alignment and needs to be set correctly or replaced. I hope this helps
Dvd player makes a ticking noisse and wont play
It sounds like you may have broken the DVD carrage which is drive by a motor and gear system. This could be as simple as putting the gear back on track or as hard as replacing the carrage itself. I would suggest that you get a qualified technician to perform this task because having some experience with this I have had to repair the carrage and laser assembly when folks tried to do this on their own. I hope this helps.
Stopping and stuttering video image
I have seen this problem a few times and is likely to be caused by one of three things:
1) The optical pickup lens has accumulated some dust/dirt/other crap and needs to be cleaned. The best way to clean the lens is with a cue tip. You may be able to do this yourself if you are very careful and can recognize what you are looking for. Lightly dampen the cue tip with WATER and very gently rub it across the surface of the lens a few times, then repeat with the dry end. Do NOT use any cleaning agents on the lens!
2) The spindle motor is not spinning the disc at a constant correct speed and may need replaced.
3) The optical pickup itself is bad and may need replaced.
If cleaning the pickup fails you would need to take the unit to a pro for an estimate.
