LG RU-42PX11 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television Questions & Answers
Hi, i have an LG plasma, model number RT-42PX11.
You need to pull the power supply out and replace the damaged caps on the board. Look for swollen, pushed up tops and leakage around the base of the caps.
You need soldering and basic electronics skills. You also need to pull apart that big tv and pull the power supply board!
You can look on Ebay for pullout boards from people who have broken their screens. It can get you a working board for cheap sometimes!
Good luck and be careful!
TV changes input and sound on its own
The only simple thing you can do is to check the manual buttons on the set for any sticking. When pressing a button down you can feel the detent.(click) When releasing the button it should raise up freely. Sometimes while cleaning the cabinet moisture gets on the switch assembly under the buttons causing random activity. I have experienced three common causes for your problem. 1 sticking buttons 2 defective switch assembly. The assembly can be unplugged from the circuit to see if the problem goes away. 3 a problem with the microprocessor that controls the functions.( requires a qualified tech to repair
) hope this helps

How do I change to NTSC
Unless it has it built into the set you cannot--need a box for say PAL to NTSC or whatever format the set uses that is being sent to the set. They make set top boxes for this.
Doesnt turn on
That problem is usually have 2 causes..Its either power supply board or main board..Please take this steps on how to determine the problem:1. Open the back cover.2.
Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main
board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light
inverter..3. If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board..4. If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board...5.
If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors
are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you
can purchased new power supply board..6. If the problem is on
main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new
main board that fits to your TV..Hope this solution will be helpful..Thanks for using fixya...

You should connect your TV to an Active DtH Connection or a Live TV Cable or even to a working DVD/VCD Player etc. and tune it to the frequency of the same and it should start working. If it doesn't, please contact Service Center.
