Probably not main board but a short on the y- sustain board or a bad power supply

hi this fault could be down to capacitor in the power supply, they bulge or go leaky, you need to take the back off the tv, to have a look. try and find a tv tech in your area hope it helps regards shaun

Perhaps the program you're watching is not HD. It won't fill the entire screen no matter how you format the screen.

Hello kurzty, please use the INPUT button located on either your remote or on the TV UNIT to change the existing input station/video. Keep cycling through the input selections until you see the regular programming again. If you can at LEAST see the menu pop up on the screen, you know nothing happened to your projection device. which means your NOT going to have to pay several HUNDRED bucks for a repair if your not under warranty. This could be a Mal-Discharge problem which can be rectified by replacing either or both of the sustain boards, a software update for the control board can occassionally help but would need to be done by an engineer.

Are you using a direct input for the DVD or going through the tuner?Use one of the aux inputs and check that way.
