Hi,

To start with, as you must be aware this is an internal failure. As it is less than a year old, it is in warranty. You have an option to call up LG and get it repaired or replaced. The reasons for calling LG are :-

1. Repair could be expensive ( unfortunately, most of these expensive products have assemblies that usually needs replacement than repair ).

2. You need to have electronics experience, should know how to read schematics and need to keep all the precautions.

3. Any DIY would VOID warranty on the product.

To provide you with some pointer, a burning smell of burnt rubber means a short circuit that might have burnt the board or the internal wires which needs to be carefully observed.

Let me know,if you wanted to fix it yourself. As we discuss, it would need you to use multimeter and other electrical devices and you need to open the TV for the same.

My Lg was doing the same thing. Every movie we watched had subtitles running at the bottom of the screen. The button was at the bottom of the remote. Once we pressed it, it came up on the screen saying CC/OFF. Also had this happen on same TV with DVD player and had to turn it off with the DVD remote. Subtitles OFF/ON

I would try cleaning the entire tv with a lint free cloth, Also if you have it plugged into a surge protector, try plugging it directly into the wall. If the smell continues most times it is the result of a capacitor failing in the tv. You would want to have it looked at sooner then later before it causes more damage.

Is it getting power? If so, and you can get no menu, you need service. If it is making a popping sound, even once, The x sus and the y sus boards need to be replaced. A chip popped off the back and what you hear is electricity arching over the chip. Very common on plasmas.

is Screen Defective, needs to be replaced. send to repair to check how much you may spend to repair.

you have a blown cap in your lg's power board the electoletic cap looks like a can and the bad one will have a domed top where it vented the value is written on the side you can replace them or have it done and you should be good to go

Power Supply is dead.Replaced the power supply well solved this problems.

You have a defective Power Board.Replacement cost about 200.00.(DIY)

Ur Main Tuner signal board is dead.Replaced the Main Tuner signal board will solved ur picture problems.

There are probably two supplies in your set; a main power supply and a second one that supplies the high voltage needed by the plasma display. You may have replaced one that was not faulty. It still wouldn't be wasted money if this is true since both supplies are probably of the 'switched mode' type and these can be very reliable if quality components are used which isn't the case in too many.

you may have to set the input value on the bravia for optical on the input from the cable box. sometimes there is more than one way for a particular input to receive an audio signal, you may have rca(red and white), a black or orange rca type for digital, and then the optical. i would suspect you have to tell the bravia how the sound is inputed into the bravia. also , just a thought.... on the cable box there should be a volume control on the front of the box........ make sure the cable box volume is ALL the way up (it is the preamp volume).

The plasma panel is going bad and is not repairable.

Hi, I recently bought a 47" LCD LG the latest model and I read that you had purchased it previously and I wanted to know how you found the quality of picture on the LCD? At the moment ours is a bit blurry. I hope it was worth buying. Do you think we just need to tune the picture quality?

Check Capacitors on power supply board. I believe CM852 and CM853 are the two I replaced. They only cost a few dollars each and can be replaced with a cheap soldering iron and solder (flux core). The board cost around $150.

I am having the exact same problem with my LG 50". It's two weeks old. Has anyone found a solution?
