LG LST-3510A DVD Player/Receiver Questions & Answers
I have a LG home theatre system model HT963TA
I have this problem too.If you set the DVD player resolution to 480p instead of 1080p it will not have the blackouts anymore. Of course this defeats the whole purpose of buying an "upscaling" DVD player. Just curious: what TV's are-you using?
Dvd playback has become erratic
Hi, I have seen this symptom many many times in my shop, and always it is the laser heads and or the quadrant detector, or both, that is failing/failed. Especially in a unit of this age, 4 - 5 yo.
Replacement is the only repair, and this is quite expensive, however if you wish to pursue this avenue then to get a good result, you need to contact the LG, head or local office, ask them for a referral to an authorised service center, now when you take your unit here ask them for a "Quote" as to the repair, this way you can at least make an informed decision as to what to do, repair or replace.
ERROR-No DIsc
try going to LGs website and look under support/downloads for a Firmware update, or any other updates, and install them (usually by downloading a file, then burning a DVD or CD on your PC to insert in the player.
If this helps solve your problem, please give a fixya rating, everyone of them helps. Thanks for the question
ERROR-No DIsc
This is what worked for me and I hope that it will work for you as well. I tried to clean the laser lens no luck. I opened the case and slid the lens pickup as far back as i could slide it. It now reads discs. It had lost its home position if thats possible.

LST-3510A
Hello,
I've been reading up on the LG LST, I got the same device.
Two options that you may want to try (and there may be a third).
1st) Make sure nothing has happened to your DVI cable, make sure it is tight on both ends. Undo it and blow on the connectors and resecure it if need be. HDCP involves communication between the HDCP chip on your LST and the HDCP chip in you display. If you cable is loose, dog chewed or too long then it may be interfering with your HDCP handshake.
2nd) You should be able to go to RGB display option and dispay in HD over the same DVI cable. This was discussed much in the forums I have been reading about.
I hope one of the above options helps you. In fact I hope the vacume or kids knocked the cable slightly loose and you are back in business after tightening it.
The 3rd option would be to do a google search for LST-3510a and HDCP, you will find all kinds of solutions, work arounds and firmware update discussions.
Good luck!
Scott
I think my laser is fried. Can I fix it?
yes you will have to replace the whole assembly, but before doing so, try to clean it (the lens) first with a dry clean soft cotton swab or buds. do not put any cleaning agent on it. you may use also a compressed air (duster) to blow accumulated dust iside the assembly. sometimes the mirror (reflecting mirror) under the lens which directing the lazer is also dirty that needs to be clean and the only way to reach it is by means of that duster. good luck!
