Here is the Operator's Manual.

The Ink reals and printhead assembly are all mounted on the single
black plastic mold which is held down by three mounting screws.Two
of the mounting screws are up front ; one within a long thin well, the
third is in back. Any long thin Philips Screw Driver will do.

There is one motor and two belts - one belf for each ribbon spool. It's possible the belts are the problem, but it sounds more like it's the ribbon spindle itself. The spindles contain clutches, and when the clutches bind up the spindles don't want to turn. Sounds like you need a new ribbon spindle.

If the printer doesn't react when you send a print job to it (either prints, or displays an error code on the display) and just sits there doing nothing, it generally means the print job didn't get to the printer. Check your communication settings. The printer comm settings must match the settings in your software. The default comm settings on the printer are:
Baud : 9600
word length: 8
stop bits: 1
parity: none
flow control: dtr

Hi, Please make sure that printer has not over heated. You can check requirements in the first few pages of the manual. You can run a power cycle on the printer and then check for the response again. Otherwise, please see the troubleshooting section for any suggestions from the manufacturer to move forward. Thank you.

If you search Amazon for "monarch tagging gun needles" you will get various options. It looks like they fit all guns (not model specific). Amazon's return policy is good so if they don't work for some reason you should be able to return them.
