Tripp Lite Lite OmniSmart 725 (OMNISMART725) UPS System Questions & Answers
I have this same unit, replaced the batteries, it
From what I can understand your UPS is having fault in the charging section as the unit worked fine for a week after which your battery also tested fully drained. Now to confirm your doubt about the polarity it is important that the battery can be disconnected and a multimeter is used to check for the polarity of the leads to the battery ( leads removed) Once you have the voltage to the battery then it is confirmed. If there is no voltage then it is confirmed the failure of charging voltage as the mosfet drivers or the charging transformer/regulator is fault failing to deliver the section voltage.
Some models need the back up voltage of the battery to be feed back as a feedback into the processor so that the output AC voltage is triggered on. So this can be the reason that the set worked till the battery ran out totally.
Charge the battery and test, if so check the charging section of the UPS.
No Power to outlets, Power light flashes green
Let it charge without anything plugged in to the outlets for at least 8 hours. Then, test the battery voltage again. If you still get less than 11.5 volts on either of the batteries, it's time for a new set. It's recommended that you replace both as the other one, even with a reading of 12 volts, is going to fail very soon. The UPS is trying to charge the batteries to get both batteries, as a pair, to 24 volts. It will continously charge them until it gets there (which won't happen if it's a bad battery) and you'll burn out the new one you just replaced. You can new batteries at
www.batteryinternational.com for a fraction of the cost of a new UPS. Hope this helps.
Fault
Battery might be on edge of failing, try to unplug for 1 minute then replug with nothing plugged into the sockets. If OK and it beeps when you plug eqpt into socket the battery needs to be replaced.
My tripp lite smart1000lcd won't charge
Mine too. pull both batteries out and check the voltage on each.
One may be unusable as was mine. Peel of the Tripplite label to determine what size it is to get a comparable and much cheaper one.
My tripp lite smart1000 lcd don't want to charge
Wait for the power to come back on. If it's already back on, unplug the unit from the wall, unplug all devices from the unit. Plug the unit in, turn it on, let it sit for an hour before reconnecting devices to it.
