Seagate USB 2.0 External Enclosure + 400GB ST3400832A UATA 8MB 7200RPM HDD (NEWITEM31875736) Drive Case Questions & Answers
PC won't recognize external usb HDD
You may not have installed the HDD correctly in the case... I had the same problem with my Thecus N1050 enclosure, the green power light on the enclosure would come on and the drive would spin up but my PC would not see the HDD!!??... I thought, becuase i could hear the drive spinning that i had it installed correctly but this wasn't the case, when i removed the enclosure again and FIRMLY pushed the HDD into the connector (all the way in) and connected it back up to my PC, it recognised it instantly. Hope this helps!

My Hitachi external fell and wouldn't register on
Depending on the noise it is making, yes and no. I can promise you if it is making noises, it is damaged internally. You can take it to data recovery companies such as data safe and GeekSquad to have your data recovered.
External hard drive was dropped
You may have accidently broken some of the internal components of the external enclosure. If you have the know how, you should take the hard drive out and test it in a computer to see if the hard drive is still good. If the hard drive is still good, you can get away with buying another enclosure. If the hard drive isnt good, your better off just buying another external drive.
Lightly Dropped Seagate 100GB External Hard Drive
Unfortunately, this probably means the read/write heads were jarred and can no longer function properly. That's usually fixable, but it's a very expensive fix because the parts are inside the hard drive and the data surfaces are very delicate... Most people are better off simply replacing the hard drive unless the data is absolutely vital.
Computer doesnt pick up a usb
Remove the HDD from the enclosure and slave it inside your PC...if it reads it will be the enclosure is faulty. If still no read is faulty HDD.
Hard disk not detected
Try plugging the enclosure's usb to another USB slot. If the computer still will not read it, then the enclosure itself might be defective and not the actual harddisk that is inside.
To verify this, try to mount the harddisk to another enclosure and test. If the enclosure is still under warranty, you can return it back to save repair costs.
Cannot safely remove my Seagate Expansion Hard Drive...
download ccleaner from google for free and install it whenever u want the drive to be safetly removed use ccleaner before remove of the drive. if this doesnt work format the disk and the try as it may occur due to virus.
Dropped my Seagate while
You really need to take your drive to a service center. You cannot do the repair procedure on your own if you are not a qualified to do the work. I suggest this option so that there will be no more further complications will be generated with your drive.
Seagate Ex-HD will not power up
check with your BIOS settings. Check with other system if it is worked sure there is problem with bios if not worked u must check with new power cord
Run CHKDSK, run it with both the option, I mean the 'automatically fix file system errors' and 'Scan and attempt to fix bad sectors'

External Seagate Hard Drive making clicking noise
Did you plug it into a different USB port?
The click noise (at least from the usb hdds that i have had) is due from it being underpowered. So if you plugge it into a different USB, move it back to the other.
Yesterday my USB external 400GB
Sorry to report that the solution offered to me was referrals to companies that do data recovery but the price is too expensive for ordinary people like myself. I will have to take out a second loan in order to afford their cost! I wish I could be referred to companies who offer a more affordable/reasonable cost for data recovery for non-business owners who happen to have important documents stored in their hard drives but will not bankrupt them if not retrieved.
Disappointed,
