Have proscan tv/dvd combo unit PLEDV2488A. Volume not high enough. Is there a software update for this or some other fix?

I have a proscan model PLCD5092A I do a channel scan and every thing is good until i power the TV off then on and it looses most of the scanned channels it found.
I suspect something is wrong with the memory back up of the TV. It could be chip problem, or the power to the chip is lost due to a capacitor failure. Unless you are good at electronics it's one for the repair man.
