Rest the opener?

You will find a button (smart/learn) just to the left of where all those white wires go on the Unit installed inside the garage to open the door. Press and hold it for 6 seconds. This will erase the memory in the opener and your remote should no longer work. Now press and hold the large button on your remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the garage unit. Your unit is now reprogrammed.

Door closes only by holding control button down thru the time of operation?

Either you have an obstruction between the two sensors on floor on each side of door or the safety circuit is defective. Make sure both are properly connected. One should be lit up and when you place something in between the sensors the light should go out.

IT JUST STARTED TO ACT UP. i WILL START TO GO UP 1 FT AND STOP AND YOU PUSH THE BUTTON AGAIN AND IT GOES DOWN. tHEN YOU TRY AGAIN, SOMETIMES 2-3 TIMES.

Un-hook the chain from the door, and see how hard it is to raise the door. It should be easy, not hard. If it's hard to open by hand, the opener won't do it, and will stop. You can adjust the springs to counterbalance the door so it's easy for the motor to lift it. You may need new springs.

My remote controls only work when I am in the garage

Are you sure that the replacement batteries are good? Test them for current output before installing? How about the antenna that is affixed to door opener - is it there to receive the remote's signal? If batts are good as well as the antenna then the receiver portion of the opener has lost gain and is in need of repair.

My garage door does not want to close but it will open with no trouble I reset it but it still does the same thing the one I have is 1/2 HP model #139.54985 can you help me?

sounds like a relay malfunctioning or mother board issue----that's if you haven't damaged any sensors or had lightning strike----usually you push the button to start it going in the up or down then you push the button to stop it then push it again to go in the opposite direction----I don't know how your operating this with a remote or on site switch so it's hard to fathom what's wrong with limited info----it's like trying to cut hair over a telephone

How do I make it stop at 6 inches open using my car remote?

You have to press the button on the remote 3 times allowing for the little delay that comes with remotes. the wall switch is easier because it is wired directly to the opener. you will also find it sometimes works easier if you start with the door all of the way down.

We installed the opener and everything works as it should but every morning we find the door open. Then in the afternoon it usually closes itself.

i would look for a shorted out wire to the wall button. maybe a staple thru the wires shorting it out. cold night and warm days expand/contract wires and staples and make a connection.

Garage door stops after it opens about 12 inches. This just started today. Craftsman garage door opening system

My first question is, have you checked your spring? 95% of the time when we at AGS - Home Services, Garage Door Division hear this complaint it is because the spring is broken. If not, then check to make sure nothing is obstructing the door's travel, make sure your lock is not engaged, make sure you have nothing stored around the tracks of the door. Then check your force setting, it should around 4-7. If it's low, increase the setting and see if that helps. If it does, then you need to have a garage door technician come and adjust your springs as they are set too heavy. Then they can readjust the force once the springs are corrected. Good luck.

You need to check your sensors first. If they are lit and aligned, increase your down force. Have you recently had the springs adjusted or serviced by a garage door tech? If so, force probably needs to be adjusted and the tech failed to adjust it accordingly. If not, one of your sensors is probably misaligned which is usually the problem.

How come the remotes control won't work when I program them at the same time. When program separately it interferes with the other remote and shut if off.

Erase your codes in your opener by holding the learn button in for a count of ten. Then try programing the remotes. When a opener has to many codes it will allow one then boot another one out.
