Change all the capacitors in and around around the sound output section. Usually Philips capacitors shows a some sort of leak after some years. I says this according my service experience. I'm working with this kind of electonic entertainement equipements since 1974. We cannot predict the exact capacitor poise the problem. That is why recomeds to change all of them. It won't cost so much.

When i first turn on

You can demagnetize your TV by using one of the bulk erasers that the Radio shack sells. Start from the middle of the screen, circle the eraser counter clockwise motion all the way to the border of the screen in the pull out position, repeat this procedure for a few times. If the problem is still exist, check the distance of the sub to your TV, must be at least more than 8 feet, if not move that big monster further away from your TV. After you do this and still have the problem, your TV tube is damage and need to be replaced. You will have to consider either to repair or buy a new TV whichever way is more cost effective.

One night our screen just blacked out. I could

From your description it sounds like you TV is experiencing a shut down and re-set condition. This is usually caused by some type of voltage irregularity in the power supply section of the TV. Unfortunately, this is not an easy fix and will require a trip to the shop. Get an estimate before approving repair. In the new world of disposable electronics the cost of repair may exceed the value of the set.

Is my polaroid TLX-04244B Digital

I checked out the manual for a similar model tv from polaroid...there's only one input for the coax cable from your antenna, so if the antenna's cable is connected to this input, this couldn't be the problem. What I do have trouble with on my own tv is that my indoor antenna location can make huge differences in recognizing all available digital signals. I could even have the antenna facing a different direction, and get different results. There are a few sites you can google for to find your distance from the broadcast towers, too. This might help to determine if you need a stronger antenna. It's a painfully long procedure to try different angles and positions for your antenna each time you run a channel scan, but this might be the only thing that would prevent you from picking up the digitals. I try the highest spot possible, and the one closest to the outdoors. Good luck, I hope you can pick them up soon! (Any antenna works...the industry tries to pass off "digital/hdtv specific antennas" to make a buck. I've used a cheapy rabbit-ears antenna and was able to bring in digital channels, as long as your tv or converter box is converting the signal.)

Does the model Polaroid TTM-2401

Your TV will need a HD converter because it doesn't have a digital tuner but only if you are receiving over the air signals. If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, then you do not need the converter HD box.

Picture turns green!

The CRT (picture tube) is failing. This is classic in these TV sets, and including many models of the Sony.

There is a short occuring in the electron gun. The CRT would not be feasible to replace even if it was available!

Polaroid TTm - 2401 won't come on.

Well, as you can see by the plethoria of problems posted about Polaroid televisions you are not alone.
Yopu have been caught by a relatively new product problem called ``Paid Rebranding``,where a manufacturer will purchase the rights to brand their product with a relatively well know name, giving it instant recognition. Polaroid, or any other manufacturer makes a TON of money...for doing absolutely nothing. Actually, a few years ago, polaroid went out of business, so whoever purchased the rights to resell the name, made a ton of money. Unfortunatly, the company that sold their name knows nothing about the product...because they didnt make it, and the original manufacturer has absolutely no repair channels put into place for after sales service. If 100,000 units were originally made, 100,000 parts were purchased to make the units...and NO MORE. Now with 90% of parts crammed into 1 specialty chip...if that 1 chip goes...its all gone...and without replacement parts...no one can fix it.

On/off

This can be a short in the power supply, scan circuits, or the CRT circuit, or the CRT itself. The set would have to be troubleshooted by an experienced tech to find out the cause of the failure. I can tell you in advance that your set may not be worth to service.

Anntena terminal

That's called the "F" connector and it attaches to the inside of the tuner, which is solder mounted to the main board. Main board has to be removed, tuner extracted from the main board and if the pc board inside the tuner is not damaged a new "F" connector can be soldered in place... At our shop we charge $60.00 for the repair and $2.50 for the part. I'm sure you'll find that's about average.
