my advise is to disconnect the sky box and any other ancillares. and see if the tv works as a normal tv only. if not the tv has a fault.if it now works connect your other ancillaries ie skybox one at a time if the tv gives up then just backtrack what you have just done it may just be a faulty cable

Please unplug the TV from the power. Wht has happened is there are two parts in the TV that take the AC power from the wall plug, and convert that AC or Alternating (polarity) Current of electricity and convert it to a Directional (one Way) current inside the device called a power supply or PSU. There are three major components to the TV, the TV Receiver portion where the radio signals are decoded, the Audio Section where the sound is amplified to a speaker, and a VIDEO section where the picture is generated from the radio information sent by the AERIAL or Co-AX cable hookup (or HDMI for Direct input). Either way, there is no VIDEO where the picture is decoded and displayed on the screen. You need to check the Connector Cable if it is a HDMI TV source you are watching , or it is the VIDEO section of the TV that has failed. Usually the decoder are very robust, but the POWER CAPACITORS are what fail and no longer filter the Recified power from the power cord. For this reason you heard the HUM, as the filters stopped doing what they were supposed to do. Do NOT OPERATE The set any further as that will cause more damage. Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect.
