I have tried to do a backup of my HP Probook 4520s

This error usually occurs because the portable drive was formatted using a newer Advanced Format with 4k sectors. The system backup tools in Windows 7 only support the older 512-byte sector format. If your portable drive came with backup software, switching to that is usually the easiest solution. Other 3rd party backup software may also be compatible with your portable drive- I trust Acronis products, and they offer a free trial so you can see whether it will work for you. Acronis True Image 2018 Overview In some cases, it is possible to reformat the portable drive using an older, compatibility format. Note that you would lose any files currently stored on that drive. Have been using on PC and want to switch to mac. Can I download my files from this harddrive

OS X can read and write both FAT32 and NTFS, so it shouldn't be a problem using this drive on Mac.

Could be the drivers. Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll through all of your devices or for Windows 7 click start right click on computer select properties in the left pane device manager scroll through all of your devices. If you see a yellow question / exclamation mark ? ! or a Red X you will need to update the drivers for this device right click select update driver/reinstall driver software. If you can see your usb device but its not working scroll to Ports(Com&Ltd) right click to update driver If you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it. or you might have to download them Rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours. http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html Windows XP/Vista/7/8 This might take some time being a freeware driver solution Note: The Driver program will find all of your outdated drivers This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point. Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated.Hope this helps.

My iOmega 1TB USB 3.0

Digital cables are very much unlike analog cables. With analog you will get partial signals like channels with fuzz with deteriorated images. Digital cables, like the one you use with your portable HDD carry signals that work very much like binary code, either OFF/ON. (1/0) The fact that you are experiencing quick connection and disconnections could easily be a faulty usb cable OR a faulty port on EITHER your computer OR the HDD itself. Try to borrow a similar cable to test that it is not the devices ports (your computer OR the HDD) before purchasing a cable. If the devices ports are not functioning properly you will have to RMA or use your warranty.
Hope this helped!

I connect the USB 3.0 portable hard drive for

If your computer or laptop has a problem detecting a USBhard drive or a USB device, and another computer can detect it, then theproblem could be a RF interference problem. Try using an USB cable that is a shielded USB cable (ie. AnUSB cable that has a clear plastic covering and you can see a metallic weavewhich covers the wires) OR a USB cable that has a Ferrite core attached to theUSB cable (the ferrite core is a cylindrical object approximately 30mm long X15mm diameter and it is attached to the USB cable near the connector).

I connected the hard drive to my laptop, selected

It sounds like a couple of possible issues. One issue could be that the partition for the drive was accidentally set too low. You can check the drive partitions by going to:

Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Computer Management

Once you're in there, you can click on "Disk Management" located on the left. If you click on one of the drives, you'll be able to see the partitions of the drives at the bottom, represented by blue bars and the hard drive's name. If you right click on one of the drives, you might be able to click "Extend volume" to extend the drive. If not, try uninstalling the program that you recently installed onto the drive, and if even that does not work, try to format the drive.

How do i copy files into Iomega eGo 1TB? It is

Well this method will destroy everything on it so make sure there's nothing on it. Go into computer, right click on your drive, click format, the options should be default unless you know what you're doing, this should restore all the space to usable space. If this doesn't work go to properties then tools and disc error checking, there might be a bad sector.

Iomega eGo 1TB USB 3.0 Portable portable harddisk

Few different things are possibilities.
1. Are you connecting the device via USB 3.0 to the USB 3.0 adapter on the computer? 2. Try switching out your USB 3.0 cable for a different one. 3. If you are using the USB 2.0 instead. Make sure you are using the USB Y cable for the device and not just a standard USB 2.0 straight cable. Using the USB Y cable. Plug the cable into the device first, then make sure to plug both USB's into the computer starting with the short side USB then the longer side USB second. Also try using the USB's on the back side of the computer as they will supply more power than the USB's on the front of the computer.

My drive is brand new,

As long as it is just the USB 3.0 and not the USB 3.0 with encryption. You will just need to format your drive.
Windows 7 / Vista 1. Connect the Iomega Hard Drive to the USB on the computer. 2. Next, open Disk Management. (Right click on the Computer icon > select Manage > click Storage > select Disk Management ) 3. You will see a prompt indicating you must initialize a disk before Logical Disk Manager can access it. The disk will be selected by default. Read the note at the bottom of the window and select the partition style you want to use. 4. Click OK. 5. The drive will now appear as Unallocated and the bar will be black. Right click on the black bar and select New Simple Volume. 6. When the New Simple Volume Wizard opens, click Next. 7. It is recommended to leave the maximum disk space selected. Click Next. 8. Assign the next drive letter available. (It is recommended that physical drives are placed before mapped network drives.) Click Next. 9. Windows will automatically select NTFS as the volume format. This is the preferred file system for use with Windows 7, Vista, and XP. 10. Select the option for Perform a quick format, enter a volume label if desired, and click Next, then click Finish. The drive will be ready to use when the format completes.
Windows XP / 2000 1. Connect the Iomega Hard Drive to the USB on the computer. 2. Next, open Windows Disk Management. (Right click on My Computer > select Manage > click on Disk Management ) 3. If the Disk Wizard opens, click Next. Select the disk, click Next, then Finish. If the Wizard does not open, locate the drive in the lower list. Look for a disk that does not show a drive letter or file system. CAUTION! Make sure you select the correct drive before proceeding. The following steps will erase all information from the selected drive. 4. Right click on the drive name and select Initialize Disk (Windows XP) or Write Signature (Windows 2000), then click OK. NOTE: If the options listed above are not available, you might need to delete the primary partition. 5. The drive will now appear as Unallocated and the bar will be black. Right click on the black bar and select New Partition (Windows XP) or Create Partition (Windows 2000). 6. When the Create Partition Wizard opens, click Next. 7. Verify that the partition type is Primary partition and click Next. 8. It is recommended to leave the maximum disk space selected. Click Next. 9. Assign the next drive letter available. (It is recommended that physical drives are placed before mapped network drives.) Click Next. 10. Select the option for Perform a quick format, click Next, then click Finish.

No power, will not power on

The obvious answer is that the power supply is dead. If there is no external power supply connected then try connecting to an external powered usb hub. The drive is not getting power and the computer's USB power is not enough.
