hello. (the fan turns on, then off , that it?)
a PC that self turns off, is power overloaded. tell what the fan does heck even clean it .
NO OS stated, why post lacking that.? xp, w7/8/10????? vista?
NO method for restore stated, must we guess? what MEDIA"?
- hammered the F11 key for HP magic recovery(best)
- used the HP recover disks with HP logos on top. ????
- used Microsoft disk (bad bad idea, unless you want to find all those missing HP drivers and put them all back as 1,2, does above. for free. ask we can find them see last link ....
so what does shutting down mean.?
just windows (unstated) bad, locks up or goes BSOD.
or does it mean the PC turns its self 100% off, silent fan silent HDD? dead silent from fan ok and hdd sounds ok.
if it really turns off, then take out that
huge battery there.
they short, get it out of there first, run on AC pack forever. you can. so this is always first, and only takes, 4 minutes work.
Does it run now,(btw , power loss has 10 to 20 causes not 1)
we sometimes have to strip a system to find what shorted.
things in the real world can short, many things. in fact.
NEXT:
then do the long reset posted on HP real site 1,000,000 times. there. endlessly.
with main battery out, ac pack pulled.(both)
push power button for 10 to 30 seconds. this resets sleep modes ,etc.
put back only AC pack ONLY, does it turn on now and say on , does the fan work the fan must work and not be packed in lint.
ok if it stay on (fan /hdd sounds) then we do BIOS NEXT.
PCs boot in a serial order , in fact.
does the F10 ey works as it prompt you for 7 years
do you get text? ever?
power on, see text do as it states, "hit F10 to enter hp setup"
means to hammer F10 to enter bios. do so now.
F10 is BIOS page entry command,
this screen is LED so the back lamps never fail, like earlier owns do.
leaving what, next, if no text or BIOS acts up, or BIOS time and date are wrong, then RTC CMOS coin cell is dead. new one. now.
Coins fail at 7 years on average. a cheap and easy fix.
when the coin goes dead, BIOS goes dead with it (goes mad)
if that is ok and just the HDD will not boot,. then try F11 magic key.
F11 is full recovery to day one stated, HP OS, (unstated) and all HP magic driver are renewed, this is the correct way.
if the HDD has been slammed, F11 will be dead now. for ever.
if F11 is dead, we then test the HDD.
all in this order.
your PC is 2010, like mine, so 7 years old is on the cusp of
coin cell bad,(but usually are ok now, if lucky like my 3 are)
full support page is here.
the real support page at HP,. Fixya is not HP ,not now or ever.

how to test a HDD, if the motor is silent it is dead. ear to side of drive, dead silent (PC fan running sure) all test here are free.
zero cost. just work.

so the power button is pushed the fan turns on right>?
then goes dead silent,? surely you can tell what fan does , sounds and if text ever lands on the LED screen there.
most un-serviced PC, pack up lint like this.
like this, doom happens like this every time not kept clean.
all do it.
