How do i factory reset my dlink dir 815

Login into you router using your browser (connected by a LAN cable) and under the settings section you should see facotry reset. If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can ssets-up form scratch.

I have a D-Link router and when I try resetting it, the password won't work even if it's the default password

You may have to do a full factory resent. Try a hard reboot (turn off the on) of the router. If not try a factory reset that you should be able to do using the admin functions in the settings. Of course you will have to set-up you router from scratch but this may solve your password issue.

My ipad 2 will connect but the load time is very slow

Your throughput (speed) is limited by the speed of the service from your provider. Additionally, this speed is divided or shared with every device connected via network cable and devices that are connected wirelessly, too.To make matters worse, while the wireless N standard provides a faster speed, it only does so at a closer distance. When further away from the router, you may actually get better speed by connecting to the G side of the router (assuming you have G enabled).Proper router configuration is key. Make sure you haven't locked it down to a slow speed. Install additional wireless access points or upgrade antennas with those that offer higher gain to provide good coverage in your home / space. Locate the wireless routers and access points closest to the areas these drevices will likely be used. Avoid installing in basements, behind brick and concrete walls. Aluminum siding can thwart a signal pretty well, too. Unplug / replace cordless phones that run on 2.4GHz - they can rob bandwidth from your router in the form of interference. Select Ch 1, 6 or 11 for the least interference from other wireless devices as long as they are not already in use by someone close by. Protect your WiFi by NOT broadcasting your SSID and be sure to lock it down with WPA or WPA2 security and a password that does not appear in the dictionary. This will help keep others from stealing your WiFi bandwidth. All of these suggestions will either increase your throughput / speed or provide additional security and prevent others from stealing your bandwidth. I hope they help!

I have d-link dual band

Since this is a desktop PC that has Windows 7 OS, there might be a possibility that the issue is on your wireless adapter. As we all know, desktop PC's has no built in wireless card on them, so you need to install a wireless USB adapter on your PC. Of course, 3rd party wireless USB adapters has their own wireless utility to manage the wireless connection and that is where you need to put in the infos about your wireless connection. You didn't mention if on the 2nd part, is it asking you to re-type your wireless passphrase or is it asking you for a WPS pin.

Why do I need to

It's not the router. You have to turn off WiFi protected setup. Go to Advanced/WiFi protected setup/Uncheck Enable.I went through months of calling tech support and even replaced the unit thinking it was faulty. Works like a CHARM!
