What is and how do I fix system error code:01
Hi Laura:This code really indicates there an issue with the hard disk. Initially, I thought that there was some overheating problem, and I was able to get the system stabilized, temporarily, by putting a small desk fan next to the cooling ducts on the right side of the unit.I suggest opened the unit, and check that the vent holes are positioned for optimal heat dissipation. The transformer and main capacitors are located on the front of the power supply board... which places them towards the front of the unit on the right side. The frame only has a single row of vent holes where these components are located... not towards the rear where the double row is. Making the design worse, the vent holes on the bottom of the chassis are not positioned where they would benefit heat dissipation. If you use a fan, it will need to be position on the right, near the center. The will blow cool air across the major power supply components and let the air exit through the bottom and left side.Heat, however, is not the issue with an Error Code 01. This is a hard disk problem - probably some corrupted track or possibly the boot sector. It may even be as a result of excessive fragmentation. Of course, TASCAM provides no utilities to solve any of these problems.System Error Code 01 does not necessarily mean your disk is fried and needs to be replaced by a new drive. If you can bring the system back up after a Error Code 01 failure, immediately begin trying to backup your data. If you can back up to the FAT, you can access these files by connecting the hard disk to PC, using Windows Explorer, and copying the files off the drive. With the drive connected to a PC, all the files in the FAT partition are accessible.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate
