Tascam 2488 Portastudio Multitrack Recorder System - Page 2 Questions & Answers
My DP-02CF comes up with no free disk space even
This is just a suggestion - back up the track to a PC using the USB port and reload and reburn on a new disc. Sounds like you may have a bad file and or disc. And by the way you worded this, has this happened before? Make sure the activity light is out and your tracks have been recorded fully before turning the unit off or you will get "end of file" errors.

When I try to burn a CD on my TASCAM 788 Portastudio I get message "IN PANIC" at the very end of the process. What can I do?
If it's coming from where I think it is, not much... In Linux OS (which is free), when it's kernel crashes, it advises the user by "Kernel Panic". Usually these devices are built on a free software base, then whatever routines are needed to support the 'non-standard' hardware on the platform.
Bottom line is that there is either a hardware/software problem. I suggest you find out who makes the device and see if you can get help from them (via the web, "http://tascam.com/product/788/"). The only other approach is to start changing out hardware. You could start with the CD that you are using. Just try to get a 'like' device, which responds to the command that it uses. You can get it's model number and search for replacements.
I don't know what kind of help you will get, since the page at tascam stated it "has been discontinued". It is still a good starting place. With just the product, I found a list of items, such as FAQs and PDF files for it or like items. Might try and find one of these that has the word "panic" in it.
Best of luck.

Tascam 2488 Portastudio screen.
You could add an HGR monitor interface module to display the 2488 on a PC monitor.
www.hgr2488.co.uk
That way you don't need to look at a damaged display and the 2488 (MK1, MKII and NEO) work just like before.
How do i load a song from a cd onto tascam 2488 mkII?
Hello,
Although I was a factory authorized service center for Teac and Tascam, this is a much later product than I'm familiar with; no problem however.
If you have your owner's manual, the procedure will be listed there. If you no longer have the manual, just Google Teac, in Montebello, CA. I'm quite sure it will be our their website.
