TEAC GF-350 Power goes on. Press PHONO to record 45 rpm. RECORD button does not light up when pressed. The CD-R comes out blank. The screen shows: NO TOC CD-R. What does that mean?

Useful Information About Your CD-R or CD-RW : • TOC means Table of Contents and it tells you whether or not your CD has data already on it. If your CD is blank it should have No Table of Contents (No TOC). If a CD has data on it, it will show the number of tracks as well as the amount of time recorded on it. • If a CD is NOT finalized you can use it and add more tracks . If it is finalized you will not be able to modify it, meaning you will not be able to add anymore tracks. • Please note that even though you can use a CD-RW, some machines may have problems with it. Reviews on your TEAC are not good. https://www.cnet.com/reviews/teac-gf-350-review/ However, I think pressing 'PHONO' has to be done twice according to page 12 and 20 of the manual. Then read onwards in the manual. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/326990/Teac-Gf-350.html?page=13#manual .. ..

Electro Brand model number 9801: I played one record, now when I tried to play another the turntable will not rotate. Could the motor have burned out that easily?

Listen carefully with your ear to the turntable when you move the tone arm towards the record. If you can hear the motor running and the turntable is still stationary then the drive belt from motor to turntable has probably fallen off of broken. Lift the turntable, there's normally a metal clip holding the turntable in place, and locate the drive belt.

Code Err 04 - drawer

That is the error code for the optical unit hardware failure - the cd unit can no longer be controlled by the processor of the unit. Basically the cd mechanism is faulty.
The only way in which this unit can be reseted is by simply unplugging it from the mains - the processor is extremely simple and it's firmware is hard-coded in it and incorruptible.
To open the drawer you will need to dismantle the unit, access the cd mechanism and with a thin screwdriver press the lever of the drawer to unlock it - from underneath the mechanism - then pull the drawer out. Now you will need to find a similar mechanism to replace the faulty one - it's not going to be easy or cheap, they aren't sold as separate parts so the only source is other similar units dismantled for parts.

Turntable spinning too fast

The turntable speed is controlled by a belt, which is virtually a big rubber band. If it spinning too fast , then this means the belt is too tight. The only way this can happen is for the unit to be fitted with an incorrect size belt. You didn't say if you have a new unit, or a second-hand one, or if it has recently had the belt replaced. If it is a new unit and still under warranty, take it back to the retailer and ask them to fix it for you. Again, if you have recently had the belt replaced, take it back and ask them to do the job again, and this time to please use the correct belt. Be polite but firm....If you are a handyman, the job is not too hard to do yourself, and if you need any extra help, just ask, [email protected]. To buy the correct belt, you will need the name, model number, and preferably, the serial number. All of these can be found on the back of the unit. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

I got the unit(gf-350)home from the store and set

It sounds to me you have manufacture defect, you said it worked fine for two hours and then you ran into problems, if there were issues with the cd's they would not have played. I would do yourself a favor and return it for exchange or for a different unit.

What isn,t recording? The CD or the tapes? Either way, try running a cleaner through. It may be as simple as that.

The record player skips

Hi There,
From your description it sounds like there is insufficient weight on the needle end of the pick up arm.

The pickup arm is very delicate in its balance at the "rear arm end" fulcrum.

This weight is adjustable to allow the needle to press on the music track to an exact pressure and it is adjustable so that this pressure does not damage the music track.

There should be a wheel type thingy at the rear end of the pickup arm.

This wheel is usually marked in Grams, and to make the needle end heavier to stop "skipping' you turn the wheel to wards the + sign.
This + sign means more weight on the needle.

There also should be a - sign, and the wheel, when turned in that direction, the weight on the needle is reduced.
You need to be aware that a needle really needs to exist in the cartridge as they can be broken off very easily and if there is no needle present there, then there is no way you will get any music from the turntable.

So check there really is a needle there...use a magnifying glass to see....

If thats OK then place the needle end of the pickup arm on to the record surface and turn the weight wheel until the needle just lifts from the record surtface.
Now that this stage has been received turn the weight wheel in the reverse direction by around 5-7 grams in the heavy + direction.

The needle should now be resting on the records surface and not lifting at all.

It should play like this,,,BUT please ensure the record player is on a perfectly flat surface the
needle wont work on any incline at all...

If you turn the amp on in the phono switch position and carefully hold the needle over the record and touch the needle with your finger you should get a scratchy sound from the speakers.....

This is a basic test to ensure the amplifier and all the wiring is in place and doing its job..
Im Sorry you had a run around from the repair company but some of them are not interested in repair work any more they just want to sell new hardware...
It pays to ask if they are Pepared to repair stuff for you , then get a commitment of a reasonable repair date and time in writing.

If this date and time is exceeded then you dont have to pay for the repairs do you??
As they have missed the service level agreement you had with them for the reapir date and time..

Hope this helps

YUBEUT..
