U have tools like a soldering Iron and roll of solders?Can u also do basic soldering works?Yes take the tv aparts and resolders the FBT-(flyback transformer) that the big block of plastic with a red wire with a black cap hook up to the tv CRT-(tv tube).Also the tv video board that the board that hook up to the tv CRT-(tv tube) tube neck hook on to this video board.Resolders that board too.70-80% will get the tv working again.

most of case i found the problem in the front panel soft keys when you measuer the vlaue it will show sevaral MEGA ohms

Hi I have very little knowledge of TV electronics but I have worked on other electrical devices, I had a very similar problem with my Thomson 32" TV (I had a whistling noise before it went into standby). and am pleased to say I have cured the problem myself!! If you have a soldering iron and the ability to use it I will describe what I have done. Obtain access to the main printed curcuit board (I left my TV unplugged overnight to enable any residual power to subside). on the main board (on mine upper left 1/4 of board looking from the back) you will see a circular group of solder joints (about 9 or 10 joints) that appears to be the main component that connects the curcuit board to the screen,check these joints to see if they have gone dry (they will appear to have a ring around solder joint)if so you might have found your problem, desolder these joints and remake with a good quality solder joint. I carried out my repair 5 days ago and am pleased to say my set has not gone into standby since. best of luck Stuart

See that any of the buttons are pressed or any thing is shorting any of the switches or wires or PCB in your Television

hi there, red light flashing means a shorted parts on the unit, do some test, check the horizontal sec, check the FBT if ok else buy a new one. ty

It isn't a transistor, It will be an I.C. with a part number that probably starts with an LA_ _ _ _ . It will be on a heat sink and be in the vicinity of the connector going up to the yoke. Try replacing that. But first, check all the electrolytic caps around it for testing dry (sorry - takes a special meter to do it in circuit) or just replace them. May have lost power to the I.C. as well. Look the I.C. up in the free NTE crossreference at nte.com get a diagram of its pinout to find what pins the power and outputs are on.
