Janet, have you tryed removing the printer cartridge? The paper is usually underneath the toner assembly. Be real careful and use steady pressure and pull gently to get teh paper out. You don't want to **** on it, creating more jams. Look around each roller with a flashlight for small pieces that may have come off also.

I have saeen this happen and there is usually a paper jam somewhere in the machine. Remember, it doesn't take much of a piece of paper to jam. Use a flashlight and look inside your printer closely. Also check your toner supply level.

If you remove the Fuser Assembly and look at the black gear to your left, you will find what is call a Swing Plate Assembly. When those gears gets worn it will cause the Fuser gears not to engage properly and cause jamps and loud noise. Some times you can get by replacing just the gear you can see. If you have to remove teh complete assembly, it is quite a chore and shoud be done by a service technician.

The first thing I would try is to fix the corona wire. Here is a link to Brother's website outlining the process (clean corona wire).
What you need to do is pull out the drum and look for a blue tab on the top of the cartridge. Slide that tab back and forth along the wire and see if that clears things up.
I have had some luck cleaning the drum when I get black streaks but I have also hear this can be dangerous and make the problem worse.

Printed paper is stalling within the output.
That's a common problem on that machine, those rollers at the exit get coated with toner and fuser oil, so they have no grip to pull the paper thru. If you dampen a rag with alcohol and power off the printer, each time you turn it on or close the front door the rollers turn and you hold the damp rag against the exit rollers one at a time to clean them...
Paper feed not collecting paper, clicking noise
Clean the pickup roller(s) (in the paper tray) with mild soap and water if you can remove the pickup roller easily or with a q-tip if you can't. DO NOT USE alcohol as it will dry out the pickup. Use at least two q-tips, don't stop cleaning too soon. You can use a little fine steel wool to rough up the roller surface too. Replace the rollers if that doesn't work. Usually cleaning them is a stop gap measure. This works for the top rollers too.
