A white vertical line appears on our printed pages making text hard to read. How do i fix this?

could be bad drum or toner. Maybe the laser is dirty. If it's the laser take out the drum and toner look inside or feel for a rectangle slot above where the drum and toner go and wipe it with a cloth can't hurt.

Does not print from computer

Try to put the printer in a LAN network and check the printer status on your web browser. You can also install the printer on USB connection with the full installer from your manufacturer and it should show you the problem.

I have successfully installed Brother

did the installation complete well, that could most probably be a driver issue. post back indicating on what operating system you have installed, and the exact error you are getting when you attempt to print. be sure also that that printer is listed in your printers and indicating ready.

There is a paper jam...how

Hi dorothyhover,

Here's how you would clear paper jam from your Brother HL 1430:

1. Remove the paper cassette completely from the printer.

2.
Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

3.
Open the front cover and remove the drum unit assembly.

4. Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

Do not remove the drum unit assembly with additional force at this time if you cannot remove it easily. Instead, pull the edge of the jammed paper from the paper cassette.

5. Open the rear cover and pull the paper towards the back of the printer, the fuser may get dirty with toner powder and may result in toner scatter on the next printed page or pages. Print a few copies of the test page until the toner scatter on the printed pages clears.

6. Close the rear cover and install drum unit assembly, close the front cover.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Wont print ready light and alarm light flashing

When the printer "Ready" and "Alarm" LEDs flash as shown, please check the following points:
1.Paper Jam: Clear the paper jam referring to "How do I clear paper jams?"
If the printer does not automatically resume printing, press the control panel button.
2.No Paper/ Misfeed:
-The paper cassette may be out of paper or not properly installed.
-If it is empty, load a new stack of paper into the paper cassette.
-If there is paper in the paper cassette, make sure it is straight.
-If the paper is curled, straighten it before printing. Sometimes it is helpful to remove the paper, turn the stack over and put it back in the paper cassette.
-Reduce the amount of paper in the paper cassette, and then try again.
-Make sure you use paper that meets Brother's recommended paper specifications.
-Reinstall the paper properly, and then press the control panel button. The printer will start printing again.
