The tape can't be rewound into the casette once the label has been made because the clear portion has been laminated to the label back.

Man, that tape's a real b!%^ch. I just spent an hour figuring it out, so here ya go... In the center is a (larger that the rest) gray wheel, this is the "toner" take up reel. On the tape that's come out of the cassette, seperate the three layers, and start "reeling in" just the toner. (The laminate and label that have come out are just lost, no real hope for them) When you get close to the end of the toner, help it feed straight back in, and it will go all the way back in. You may have to hold on to the laminate and label so it doesn't try to follow the toner. once that done, it should look like the original cartridge, trim off the excess and you should be good to go.

I can't figure out how
Press the button with the @ sign on it (bottom row on left). Display will say 'Basic'. Press the line feed button (under the Print key). Will show you a list of characters to choose from. Use the forward key (>) to scroll thru these characters (there are 14 'pages'). The dash is on the 2nd set. With your cursor under the dash press the line feed again. You'll be returned to your label entry with the dash added.
How do i print in the largest font?

In order to print in bigger fonts, you can follow these steps,
1. Try to print a document
2. When you see a box where you need to select which printer you want to use, select printing preferences
3. once you select printing preferences you will get many options you can change the options as per your needs and you will get an option to increase the font size.

How do u increase the size of the letters?
Press the Function Key. Size will show up, then hit the function key again. You should be able to move the (< >) arrow keys to select your size, which is displayed above the display screen.
P-touch 1000
The tab length is preset. You can't shorten it.
