Try cleaning the drum cylinder with alcohol and a cotton ball. Then swipe the corona wire cleaner back and forward making sure to return it to the correct place. Try a print. If it is improved - replace the drum at earliest convenience. If not improved - could be dirty laser lenses or problem with the fuser.
hi,
try to easily pull the paper out even if is a "tight stuck"
you have to firm grab the piece of paper and gently pull it out millimeter by millimeter
Remove the drum and toner from printer, turn printer off and find the glass scanner bar on the top of the inside of printer. Clean that with a paper towel and window cleaner. Wipe dry. DO NOT SPRAY INSIDE THE PRINTER. Only spray window cleaner on towel. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/alex_22751bbefa74c3d0
If you removed a piece. But more remains it must also be removed. Look closely along the paper path for something that will release to provide access to the path.
The usual 2 culprits are this:
1. Not enough memory in printer for the complex document that you are printing.
2. Newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed but old printer driver installed. Updating your printer driver from the Brother Website will often improve printing performance dramatically.
If the lines go all the way down the page, check the position of the corona wire cleaner tab (blue or green) at the top front of the drum unit. if not parked fully to one side it will create a solid black lines where it blocks the laser. Otherwise look for some other foreign object (or torn paper piece) that may be blocking the laser from the drum. If the lines are thin and shark, check for scratches on the drum (not repairable without replacing drum). If the lines are uneven thickness but in a pattern that repeats down the page every few inches, then the film on the drum is probably worn or wearing away and the drum needs to be replaced.
it is a 11 year old printer,it needs a password to unlock, call these,

You either have a piece of paper stuck in it somewhere (usually in the fuser on this model) or the flag is broken (usually again on the fuser output). Check the fuser carefully to make sure there is no paper in it and that the flag is intact. It is possible the PCB is bad but more likely there is paper in it or a broken flag. You can drop the back door and see if there is a piece stuck or if the flag is there.
1: open the back door and check for paper.
2: If no paper is present pull down on the output assemble and check for paper there.
3: When you pull down on the fuser output you should see a long thin piece of plastic sticking up in the middle.
If you do not see the flag then it is likely broken. Replacing the printer is cheaper than replacing the output flag unless you have a parts printer hanging around. Good luck and let us know what you find!
These instructions show two ways to reset the toner count ( to install a used toner in printer or get more life out of a cartridge the printer says is empty)
please note that using refilled toner cartridges, non genuine toners and using the 'extra' 10% all have been shown to reduce drum life and prematurely degrade print quality.
you may need these techniques though if you have tried a new toner in a machine to diagnose and then want to install it in another machine.
The first method is to reset the mechanical flag on the left hand end of the toner cartridge. when you first install a toner the printer turns the toner drive gear which moves this flag from the back to the forward position (towards the toner roller).
the flag is the white rectangular bit pointed out by the yellow arrow in the photo
In this photo the position of the flag shows that this cartridge has been previously installed in a printer.
you can undo three screws (red arrows in photo) and reposition the flag in the start position.
be careful to observe the way the gears are installed.
one technician I know just used a flat blade screwdriver to force the flag back to its home position ( to the right) without undoing the screws. seemed to work for him.
the second method is to
1. open the toner door
2. turn printer off
3. hold down go button
4. turn on power while holding go
5. hold down go button for 4-5 seconds untill all lights come on and one goes out
6. press go twice then wait 2 seconds
press go 5 times
printer should power cycle and show itself as ready
