Might be your transfer roller. I would try some laser cleaning paper and run that through a few times. If that doesn't work, I would purchase a fuser maintenance kit which will have the rollers as well as a new fuser.

Remove the drum and toner from printer, turn printer off and find the glass scanner bar on the top of the inside of printer. Clean that with a paper towel and window cleaner. Wipe dry. If you removed a piece. But more remains it must also be removed. Look closely along the paper path for something that will release to provide access to the path.

Unplug your printer. Wait 5 minutes. That should clear any memory in the printer.

Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are due to dirty/ deteriorating cartridge and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines.
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and ther is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.

the printer is trying to initialize. it sounds like the toner cartridge is bad or empty

it is one of the toner catridge assembly ,, you have to fix it into the toner..

The usual 2 culprits are this: 1. Not enough memory in printer for the complex document that you are printing. 2. Newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed but old printer driver installed. Updating your printer driver from the Brother Website will often improve printing performance dramatically.

Set this printer as the default printer or if there are multiple printers connected or installed specify the printer issue print command

If the lines go all the way down the page, check the position of the corona wire cleaner tab (blue or green) at the top front of the drum unit. if not parked fully to one side it will create a solid black lines where it blocks the laser. Otherwise look for some other foreign object (or torn paper piece) that may be blocking the laser from the drum. If the lines are thin and shark, check for scratches on the drum (not repairable without replacing drum). If the lines are uneven thickness but in a pattern that repeats down the page every few inches, then the film on the drum is probably worn or wearing away and the drum needs to be replaced.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the fuser yet. Is the first page actually making it out all the way or is it stopping in the output?
