You will need to take the scanner unit off and the cover tray. Many screws and clips to find and release. Once you have removed all that, you will find a container located just behind the cartridge bay that looks like it is full of black cotton pads - it is and that's the thing to very carefully remove. Use a bucket or laundry sink to remove the pads and note the order in which the are layered. Wash them out with water until the are relatively clean. Dry them and reassemble in order. Replace everything in reverse order and turn your machine on. You may need to run the maintenance code set again.

If you use the auto document feeder, the scan function will scan each page. If you are using the glass platen then in the scan software (control centre 2.0), select a multi-page option in the "save-as" file type box. The software will prompt you for the next page after each is completed until you choose "finish". Have a look at this link below. Try the purge count reset first and if that works have a look at cleaning out the waste chamber inside the machine. You must remove the casing and waste bottle, clean and refit the pads, and re-assemble the machine. It is a slow and messy procedure. Hi, Try taking out all cartridges, unplug the printer a few minutes. re plug , turn on. with ink cover open. then close cover and wait to follow the install prompts, This should reset the printer. be sure to gently push the cartridges till each one clicks.Close cover. May be an obvious thing to check, but are any of the cartridges near empty? If they are, the printer will give the message above as it does need some ink to waste in order to flush the print-heads.

If the machine hasn't been used for a long time, then I suspect the ink in the print head and/or the supply tubes to the head has dried out. Try running the print quality test/cleaning sequence a few times to see if it clears - press the ink management button on the machine and follow instructs. If after several cleans it still isnt printing, you'll have to try more agressive cleaning techniques. Search for "brother print head cleaning" on YouTube for ideas.

If your using anything other than brother ink it must be very compatible. Generic ink will dry and clog the ink jets, I suggest you replace with brother cartridges and clean ,clean, clean. If problem exists you'll have to get a ink syringe, some paper towels to place under the print head. Fill the syringe with hot! water and send just a little through each hole where the ink would go in from the cartridge. Be Very Careful not to inject to much justs enough to loosen the the dried ink and free the the jets. I take no responsibility if you get it wrong. I was able to correct the same problem with mine the same way and never used generic ink again. You can do it! and save on repair bills.

try unplugging it for 24 hrs and plug it back it. It worked for me. If it does solve the issue, you may have to keep the printer unplugged. For some reason, the power shortages we've had in our residence messed up some of the electronics in the house.

Maybe the printer needs it's software updated. You could try going to the Brother web site and check on that.

I cant advice properly about ur fax problem bt about ur miss-printing of ur printer its may b cause of ur colout cortex,change it with new one or fill colour.

most likely the printhead needs replacing, it is possible that it might be covered under warranty, call brother and check. also make sure you have black ink in the cartridge and if you did only 1 cleaning, you may need to do 3 or 4 to see if its better, ink has to flow through the tubes.
