hold down the "find handset" button til it flashes, and then let go and press it again while it flashes. This will de-register the phone and you should get a new message saying the the handset isn't registered blah blah blah. Then put it back on the base until it beeps. This should fix your problem, unless the base itself is just dead.

1. Pick up the home phone receiver, wait for dial tone, and dial *94. You'll hear 3 beeps followed by dial tone.
2. Enter the number of rings you want (between 2 and 9).
3. Listen for 2 confirmation beeps and hang up.

According to the user manual the password is set thru your phone service provider. I was able to reset mine through Verizon's (my phone carrier) website. The CS6719-16 isn't an answering machine. It will ring until someone answers, some other answering machine picks up, or the caller hangs up. If you want to change the number of rings before an answering machine picks up, please reply to this post and specify the answering machine.

Hi, this phone is analog so it can only be connected to a standard phone line, if your router or modem has a FXS connector (phone jack) with an active land line service, you could connect it there.

You are heading at this from the wrong end. The power to the device from the charger remains the same. If the device runs on 12 volts, it needs 12 volts. South Africa runs on 230 volts, so if you bought a 110 volts version, you buy an adapter that takes 230 mains voltage in, and delivers 12 volts DC to the phone.
