Bose Lifestyle 48 System Questions & Answers
Connect lifestyle 48 to plasma and dvr
You need to buy a Bose VS 2, video enhancer. Your cable/sattelite, vcr and aux connect to the VS 2 and the VS2 connects one HDMI cable to the TV. The VS2 then upconverts DVDs played on the lifestyle through the VS2/HDMI.
Lifestyle 48 Acoustic module doesn't work
Call Bose tech support. They fix or replace these under warranty. I have a lifestyle 12, original model, after two repairs in. Ore than 10 years, I was allowed to upgrade to top of the line for the price difference.
Home Audio Bose 48 - Remote not working
Had an issue with the Bose Remote RC38t1-27 not working at all. Changes batteries twice to no avail. Called Bose Tech support who walked me through the fix. I unplugged the power cord connected in the back of the system. Waited for 30 seconds or so and plugged it back into the system. Also made sure the power cord was uncoiled/unbundled as the RF (Radio Frequency) signal is within. Bingo!
There is no sound
Confirm there is power in the wall socket and that the mains cable of the Acoustimass Module is OK,then check if the Boselink audio cable is inserted firmly into the zone1 output of the Media Center and the input of the Acoustimass Module.Turn the Acoustimass Module upside down and power the system,if led indicator blinks orange, the Acoustimass Module is faulty but if it blinks an intermittent but regular green light, the fault could be from the audio cable or Media Center.Only a qualified Bose Technician can handle this kind of fault
Life style error codes 801 & 802
When being in contact with BOSE support i got the message that "FAILED 802 Call Bose" refers to issues with the harddisk not being identified.
In my case I had to send the unit to BOSE support. I replaced the existing disk with an identical unformated one but some more actions are needed. The question is what .......
My Bose Lifestyle 48 does not respond, It just flashes "Bose Lifestyle". I called the service # and they "sorry you will have to buy a new one". Any advice. and yes I unplugged everything.
This is what I found on an online manual on troubleshooting it.
When power is first applied, the Sharc boots and loads/executes the first set of instructions found in the FLASH memory. This code is very basic and only runs power on self tests (POST) that check basic communications with all the hardware peripherals (U2, U103, U301, U302, U303, andU401) and computes the version and checksum of the code in FLASH. If all appears to be "well", the Sharc reboots and loads the actual program code that makes it function as a LS28/35 bass module. If the POST fails, the Sharc signals this by rapidly flashing (approx. 3Hz rate) the amber and green LEDs alternately for a couple of seconds and then performs a Reset and tries again.
This is what the Sharc is...
The fundamental heart of the DSP board and LS28/35 bass module functionality is rooted in the Analog Devices 21065L Sharc DSP processor (U4) and the RAM (U302 and U303) and PROM (U301) associated with it. The Sharc DSP is a floating point processor capable of approximately 60MIPs performance and runs typically at 53-55 MIPs. The Sharc provides all control and "house-keeping" functions for the hardware and software as well as all signal processing, except decom-pression of AC-3 and DTS formats (this is done by the CS49329, U103).
I have lost my sound from TV through the Bose Lifestyle 48 recently. All other sound sources work fine- DVD/CD, FM/AM.

Yep, that's your problem. Eventually it won't squeal because it won't work! Easy solution, though. Call Bose, they will tell you where to send it, and they will fix it & send it back, all you pay for is shipping, and only takes a couple of days. Good luck!
