You might have blown the speaker. This happens when you play things too loudly and you ruin the speaker inside. You can test this by playing something with a decent amount of bass and turned up a bit. If you hear like a "rattle" in the sound or like something isn't right in the heavy bass notes, then you definitely blew the speaker out. This isn't a tragedy. They're fixable if you bring them to a place that repairs speakers. But I would definitely test it first by hooking it up and playing a loud song with a lot of bass. Hope that helps a little! Try using "Tuner wash" if your lucky it's just a bad volume antenuator. It can be found at any electronics parts store. ie. Radio Shack. Pull the knob off, put a rag around any area that you do not want to spray, then spray the control. Let it sit for a couple, work the control back and forth then spray again. Let it set for a few then test. If that does not work you can replace the knob relatively inexpensively at Radio Shack as well. Hope this helps

disconnect offending unit. then play see if same response occurs on the alleged normal unit using the offending cable interchange cables see if you get same result. Means it's bench repair ,internal electronics require specialist equipment to locate the offending item.

You could check it by having the unit switched on a touching each of the pins of the device with an insulated tool. Making certain you don't short any of the pins together. You should hear a buzz on each channel. If you get nothing on the right then it could well have gone.
However that is a lot of messing about, as the device can be purchased for around £12, it could be easier just to replace it and see if that cures it. After all it is the device that does most of the work, so the chances are it's gone!
