can you go into the settings menu and see if the region code is accessible?

Have a philips tv and a home theatre system but the remote off the surround system just changes the tv settings. Its kind of frustrating please hElp i need change password in may Acc I am loader in KOS :( pls help

Why would you set up a DVD Player with Dish Network? All you need to do is connect it to your TV.

Read the instructions in the paperwork that came with the universal remote. It should tell you the code which you can set manually, or it will tell you how to find the code automatically.

It's very simple and involves prepping the remote to find the code, then pressing the on-off button until the DVD player shuts off, then pressing the "save" button. Easier than it sounds, but you need the instructions to do it right. If you don't have the remote instructions, you may get them online at the remote's website.

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

The problem is not the disc itself but your DVD player. If other discs still play in English, and it is just this one disc that plays in Spanish, then your player is using some sort of stored setting to recognize your preference for spanish on that particular disc.
Forgive me if you've already done this, but try turning unplugging the DVD player for a period of ten seconds or so, and then plug it back in. If there is a reset button, press it. See if the disc still plays in Spanish after that.
If so, you may need to navigate the DVD menu of the offending CD to turn off the language setting your daughter selected. If you don't speak Spanish, try navigating to the language settings on one of the other discs with the English menus. Memorize how you got there, and take the same path through the Spanish language menu. Return the language setting to English, and exit.

That message can be generated in only 2 occasions:
1. the disk has been burned at a high speed and because of that the difference between the reflectivity of the data point and the disk background is smaller than what this player can detect so the player rejects it. The only thing you can do is to burn it at a slower speed.
2. the disk is coded in another format that your player can decode. Actually the only formats that this very basic player can decode are the dvd and vcd. If you get a disk in any other format you will have to load it in a pc, convert it to vcd or dvd and burn it again to a disk. For that you must install and use a converter, one like

IT DEPENDS HOW OLD THE PLAYER IS if it is a few years old the optical lens may require a clean this can be done by using a cleaning dvd a few times if this does not cure then the optical pick up has probably failed.

It is possible that someone has changed the region that the DVD player is in. If the menu is not in English you will need to translate the language to get it back to English in the language selection. Find the region selection in the menu and change to the proper region, this should fix the issue since some DVD work, they probably have a Region code of 0. Cheers.

Bought a new unit. The old unit was a surround sound system in which the previous owner removed the speakers. I wasn't aware of the problem but found out that it would not allow it to play on Dolby 5.1...It would only play DVD's on channel 2, therefore no english etc. Thanks for your help!!!

Installing to what kind of television? Does the tv have component input jacks? do you have to use the rf antenna connector (cable in) because there are no audio/video input jacks?

sounds like spring is broken inside

there are two things that could be happening here either

1. You need to change the settings on the t.v. to use cable instead of antenna for the programming (easy to spot if channels that are usally on one number are on another)

OR

2. you have requested highspeed internet and digital cable from your cable company, and they have installed a trap to keep you from accessing channels 12-72 or something to that effect because the data stream from your cable modem and the data stream for your digital cable are in the lower freq. band often indicated by a blank(black or blu) screen on certain channels

if scenario 2 is the case call cable company and ask that they remove the channel trap because you are not receiving the service you requested

most likly the cd jammed the tray shut or the motor is gone simply undo the screws on the side and the back take the cover of (MAKE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED) u should be able to get the dvd out from there just look around make sure nothing is blocking it that you coulndt see from the front

check the connectivity of the charger using a multimeter. if there is anything wrong in it, you might have to open up and replace the wire in the charger. if the connectivity in the charger has no problem, then try replacing your batteries

S vid cords are cheap. You can find one at any tech store for about five bucks.
