Apparently this receiver will always display the feature demo when the car is turned on or the key is in the accessory position. You do not need the remote. Press the furthest right button (6) of the multi-function buttons below the screen to exit the demo. (These are soft keys and the display will give different text options depending on the mode. When the display is in standby, the screen says ATT above this button. When you are setting tuner presets, it will have a 6.) The soft keys match the remote behavior. I had the same problem. I didn't clean the system I just got mad and inserted the cd holder really hard and smacked the radio a few times. Now it's working again. I suggest you do the same. Sorry for my bad English.

The motor on the volume knob could have gone... or the IR blaster or receiver. Do all the other elements work? Like channel, song skip, etc?

Press enter and power button untill it turnes off. Mine worked after that.

Did you get this working in the end? Was it just blown output transistors? I have one with same fault. in the service manual there is a fault reset procedure which powers the amp up to check for output faults. It switches back off of it detects a fault.

The answer is it depends. we dont know what the impedance is on the speakers and what the speaker will handle for wattage.

If you can obtain an ohm meter, check the speakers by touching the leads to the meter and see what it says. The meter should be set to measure < 1 kohm. If it shows lower than 4 ohms you have a bad speaker. If you have multiple speakers on one channel then it cannot handle the drop in resistance and it is overheating.

You require the tuner unit to make it work. he tuner tells the screen what to do.

Press and hold surround advance and hit the power button this should reset it.

Is it totally dead?
