You highlight all the photos in one folder (cntrl + A is an easy way to do this), then click and drag that group to the desired folder icon shown on the folder views on the left. Note: to click and drag the group, you can click and drag any single photo IN the group, the rest of the pictures will come along. You may have to scroll the folder list on the left to find the folder you want to move the pics to. I used the term folder for what you call 'file'. To me, file can also mean an individual item in a folder, so I just want to be clear.

My guess is that your computer's RAM is not large enough to handle completion of the file... because those collages ARE large. First, close all other programs on your machine before working on it. If that doesn't help, try making a smaller final size, and/or using copies of the photos that are reduced in size. You can make smaller copies by exporting them reduced to about a thousand pixels. Picasa has a function to do this, it sends the pics to new folder. Good luck!

As I see it, there is a group called Albums at the top of the folders list on the left. If you click on the little red triangle next to that word, all the album titles (and the year they were made) cascade down.

Picasa is great for sending photos. You must go to the tools pulldown, bottom 'options' and there is a tab for email... where you can can change the size of the photo attached to the mail.

if by caption you mean change the name of the photo, all you need to do is find that file, right click on the file and select Rename (or click F2)
if you would like to add a caption without changing the file name, there are endless photo software that will do it for you.
