Sound coming out of wrong speakers

I know nothing about your model but the very first thing that I would do is to pull the power cord from the wall outlet for at least 10 minutes and then plug it back in. This may reset everything.

I have a pioneer vsx

I'm pretty sure the front face buttons have nothing to do with the intermittent success or failure of the remote to work - unless by some chance a given momentary control is 'stuck' on.

Read this procedure to possibly fix the remote:
http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Display&contents=help_deadremote&uuid=A12963989782821

They also sell replacement remotes.
Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.

or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remote", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

Hi, My kids pushed some buttons

Of course there is. No combination of button pushing will destroy the unit.

Open the manual and treat it like a new installation.

I am getting static on

Hello,

The problem is that there is too much heat inside the unit, therefore it is making the reciever cat funny, therefore, there is a the need to place the speaker where there is very cold so as not to be acting up. You can place a small fan over the unit to cool the unit down. The fan in it is definitely bad and is what is causing the problem in the unit.

I will advice you get a new receiver and make sure you have it placed under a very cool condition. So as for it to last very long.

Hope this was helpful

My turntable won't work with the pioneer vsx-d608

Your old-school un-preamplified turntable requires an outboard Phono Preamp (*) to PRE-amplify and RIAA-equalize the tiny voltage signal produced by the phono cartridge. It will not work on any Line Level input like Aux or CD. What you will hear is a useless, barely audible, tinny playback.

Power went out for a few minutes and when it came

The short answer is there is NO way anyone without hand on the unit could deduce the problem.

First of all, never use maximum volume to test for sound. That's like revving an engine to 10000 rpm's to see if it has started. If you can't hear anything useful at 1/2 volume it's essentially dead or a switch is out of place. If you were to suddenly set the switch or control right you might cook the amp and all its speakers.

Make sure MUTING or MONITOR are NOT activated. Turn the volume down before DEactivatiing either one.

If none of the above, it's toast until a tech can look at it.

Pioneer VSX-D608 Optical connection

The manual states that the default association of each digital input in as follows:
  • Optical 1: CD
  • Optical 2: MD
  • Optical 3: TV
  • Coax: DVD
Use the "Signal select" button to set the receiver to use a digital input, and the Dolby/DTS button (above "Signal select") to enable decoding.

As samz11 stated above, a remote is required to alter the digital input mapping.

I have a new LG 42LD520 LCD TV which I'm trying to

Normally the LG TV Optical output will require an optical cable and not a PCM. So I am not sure if you are connecting the correct cable. The Pioneer can take both input types but the LG TV will only provide Digital output in Optical connection. PCM is a co-axial connection.

Assuming you have the correct cable you will need to assign the correct input types in the Pioneer receiver by selection using the setup menu. Do you have the user manual for the Pioneer receiver?

Have isuues with volume control knob. It does not

Turn off the power. Remove the knob by pulling straight out on it. Spray liberally around the dowel and into openings in the plastic shroud with what is called "tuner cleaner" and replace the knob, turn it fully around a few times and allow to dry for about 15 minutes. Power it back up and try!
