The dislay flickers SH GE90.technics .it seems to

replace the 3 electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section near where the lead from the transformer connects to.
they're sat side by side.
you may notice only 1 might be leaky but replace all 3 for good measure.

i've had quite a few with exactly the same fault and all were cured by replacing the above.

hope this helps?

The 2 larger power supply capacitors need replacing. These are prone to leaking on this particular model and causethe display to flicker.Depending on how bad the leakage, if you take the lid off youmay see evidence of this around where the power transformer leadplugs into the main PCB.

Technics SH-GE90 DSP gives off high pitch sound, no display in the window, only the red dots down the side and the demo button dose not change demo modes.

Check power supply capacitors. These are prone to leakage on the SH-GE90 and can cause varioussymptoms such as no display or in some cases a flickering display.

I bought SH-GE90 DSP And I pluged into 240V source

It is not possible for us to be able to determine the extent of the damage. It is possible that only the fuse has been damaged. It is also possible that the rectifiers have been dmaged. The bottom line here is that there needs to be some examination of the unit and some testing of the internal components. The best case will use parts in the $5 range. Worst case you are looking at $50 or more in parts. If the cost is not too high, take this to a servicer and ask for a detailed repair estimate.

I will be upgrading my

If you use the amp for music most of the time I would certainly keep the older eq as I am assuming it is most likely a good quality analog device.

These modern ones are almost all digital and are not as nice or easy to use and probably introduce latency to the signal path. Sound is all about what you like and I would bet that you will prefer the older analog sound over the new digital version.

I am not sure exactly how this would affect the other uses of the new kit such as cinema etc.

Hope this helps Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a Technics Stereo graphic equalizer. Trying

The power supply unit has failed in your equaliser. If it is the main transformer check for the continuity of the primary and if open you will need to replace with the same one or rewind with the same parameter. However if the thermal fuse is blown you can short the winding with a fuse wire. Also check on the dc side for any fusible resistors that would have opened out. Hope you check this out. Good day

Having a hard time connecting various audio components

Yes, it is a little tricky...

1) CD Changer (output) -> CD input on Amp

this is tricky... this will allow you to record to your tape deck, and control the sound via the EQ:
2) Tape Deck (tape out / recout) -> TAPE PLAYBACK on EQ
3) Tape RecOut on EQ -> Tape 1 Playback on Amp
4) Amp Tape 1 RecOut -> Tape Deck Playback / Input / RecIn
in essence, your creating a loop starting from the tape deck, going to the eq, then to the amp, then back to the tape deck to record.

Your EQ has another set of LINE IN and LINE OUT - use the second Tape 2 on the amp to create another loop. This will
allow you to control the EQ for any of the other sources.
5) LINE IN on EQ -> Tape 2 RecOut
6) Tape 2 Playback on Amp -> LINE OUT on EQ

5) Radio Tuner (output) -> Tuner input on Amp
6) DVD/VCR Combo Output -> AV/AUX on Amp

7) PC Computer... you don't have room for this. You can either use the PHONO input, and you'll have to purchase a Line Level Phono Converter
or, get a Y cable and split the signal and share with some other source.

Hope this helps.

Technics RS-BX501 cassette deck door won't open

If you feel confident doing so, you could attempt to open the cassette deck and physically examine the gears to check for damage or debris that might be obstructing them. But do remember that there are risks involved when opening electronic equipment, especially if you're not used with doing this kind of work. If you're not sure you can do this securely, it would be preferable to get assistance from a qualified audio equipment repair specialist.

I have a Technics SU-V9 Stereo Integrated DC Amplifier and ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-328PS FLOOR SPEAKERS. I enjoyed for 6 months. Now amp goes into protection mode. What would cause this? Thanks

Could be one channel has failed in the amplifier caused by 40 year old components failing. Could be a shorted speaker lead, damaging the amplifier. Job to say without seeing it on the work bench with test gear.
