Technics SL-DZ1200 CD Player Questions & Answers
I was djing at a night club and there was a little
As a DJ myself, I have seen that before. On a night that the equipment will not be used, UNPLUG ALL CABLES AND POWER, then use an eyedropper to drip a drop or 2 of water on the spindle and manually spin the table a few turns., wait about 5 minutes, then drop a couple drops of rubbing alcohol and again spin the table. Wait a couple hours or over night, and follow with a couple drops of oil. NO MORE THAN 3 DROPS OF ANY OF THESE!!

I have a Technics CD changer SL-PD867 it will not play re writable disc's any other disc ok
Not all CD players can or will play CD's burned in a PC. Sometimes the CD player is to old, so not compatible with these CDs. Sometimes the player just does not play these CD's, because of rights protection.
A CD burned in a PC is less reflective than an normal music CD. Normal CD's do have a metal coating and are highly reflective. Burned CD's have a dye, and where the laser burned the dye, it only changed colour. Making it less reflective.
All modern CD playes should be capable of playing CD r's. But the player that is really compatible, is labelled CDr and CDrw compatible.

No disc display
This can be caused by many hours on the unit or a bad solder joint on the PCB. It will need to be seen by a repair Technician.

Unit has no display and platter spins when turned on
The problem is in the microprocessor ic, it controls selectors, display and mechanical devices. Did you have a recent thunderstorm? which would explain why it is none functional, this is a long shot, unplug unit from wall receptical and any other wires that are attached, now press and hold power for 60 seconds to drain residual voltage in attempt to reset the processor, if this fails cheaper to replace player.

Cd skips back
The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, buy a CD cleaning kit and follow instructions, if this fails! far cheaper to replace the player.

the firmware depends on display. if the display does not supports MP3, firmware upgrading will not help. most of the time upgrading firmware will not help playing MP3.

The same type can be found from only a old machine and so it seems ideal that you search for one from a repair shop which has a good old reputation as the possibility of scrapped sets can be high.

Hello, I have a Technics
Hi! Used to work on one and the only fix is that I unplugged all the power and sub receiver. Just turned the unit on and off and reconnect everything and it was fine. It's like the system needs to be resetted somehow. Hope this shed some light.
