Laptop not shutting down properly is usually because of a stalled process as with any regular PC or a power management issue. Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery.2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.3.) Your battery is faulty.I think senerio 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test senerio 3 by removing the battery and pluging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out senerio 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.Take care!Norman-Wynne Damstra

First reseat the hard drive. Next make sure you have no USB or ESATA devices connected to the laptop as the system could be trying to boot from one of them. Another possibility is that the hard drive could have failed. (when you install an OS you put the hard drive through a lot more stress than you would during normal use. If the drive was on the verg of failing that could have pushed it over the edge). There are built in hard drive diagnostics that you can run. Consult your owners manual or the Lenovo support site for a how-to guide.

You may need to press F12 to select the boot device. Then you want to select the hard drive your operating system is installed on.

There are two possibilities here.1) Your charger is faulty or there is a break in the wire.2) Your laptop's battery is dead.How old is the laptop? Is it the same battery that came with the laptop when you bought it? When you use the laptop at home or at work do you normally plug it into AC power with or without the battery in the laptop?
