No audio on my newly installed xp software
If you can see an error in device manager its means the audio driver is not installed. You need to installed the audio driver. The audio driver is in the CD installer of your motherboard.

I'm having difficulty installing itunes over xp
I am not quite sure what you mean by saying that the programs want to grab the cd drive. Neither program should be using the cd/dvd drive unless you are using it, neither program has sole use of it. Could you clarify if you are getting an error during the installation?
No you can't install XP Pro and use the same product key that you have with Media Center. You need to purchase XP Pro if you want to install it and use the product key that comes in the packaging.

How do i transfer files from a disc to my
Depends on your your operating system but assuming you are using a version of windows you need to find My computer. This will open a window where you can see your hard drives & CD/DVD drives. Right click the CD drive you want to access and then click "Explore" or "Open" depending on your version of windows. Provided the disc is not damage this will allow you to view the content of the disc & drag it to a folder on your PC.

Media center 2005 won't let me fast forward
If you asking about avi file there is no easy solution of this problem because Windows Medai Player as well as Windows Media Center can not fast forward and rewind avi file only DVD support fast forward - you need to use 3th part software (player) to be able to do fast forward,
I spent a lot of time trying to force WMCE and WMP to FF all files no lack so far

BootMGR
If the machine giving you this problem has vista on it and you do not have a disk call the manufacturer of the computer. They are required to send you a recovery disc if requested.

I'm reformatting my hard drive
It would appear that Windows has put some tricky code in the installation software to know whether a certain disc goes with a certain product key, or even with the flavor of Windows you're trying to install. You need to get the product key from your colleague, and then it will take it and continue the install.
Good luck!
