it sounds like the intake/ eject rubbers are not working this is almost always due to a broken drive belt take the top of the stereo and have a look for the intake wheel see if the belt is broken and then replace

dx is short for distant. this just makes the tuner more sensitive and should pick up more stations. if it is not picking up stations in dx mode, you either have a bad antenna or a bad tuner.

, the message you are getting is "amp guard". This is the mesage it will display when a short in a speaker wire or speaker with low impedence is hooked to the internal amp and sends it into protect mode, shutting down the amplifier section while the rest of the unit continues to work.

I don't think there is anything wrong with how your doing the ID3-tag..
Have you tried pressing the [D] button while playing one of these disc's..
It sounds to me like it's reading the CD title as the ROOT (main) folder.
I found this in the manual:
Displaying CD titles
This unit can display title data for CD-text/MP3/ WMA disc and user titles input with this unit.
1. Press the [D] button to display the title.
2. Each time you press and hold the [D] button for 1 second or longer, the title display changes in the following order:
User title (disc) ? CD-text title (disc) ? Artist name ? CD-text title (track) ? User title (disc)... Folder ? File ? Album TAG ? Artist TAG ? Title TAG ? Folder...

Clarion uses the industry standard wiring colors. Not every unit will have all of the listed wires
SPEAKERS:

White = Left Front +
White/Black = Left Front –

Gray = Right Front +
Gray/Black = Right Front –

Green = Left Rear +
Green/Black = Left Rear-

Violet = Right Rear +
Violet/Black = Right Rear –

POWER/ACCESSORY:
Yellow 14ga = Battery Main/Memory
Yellow 18ga = Battery CeNET Power/Memory
Red = Accessory (ignition on)
Black = Ground
Blue = Antenna Turn On +
Blue/White = Remote Turn On (amps) +
Orange/White = Dimmer
Brown = Phone Mute
Orange or Mint Green= Parking Brake Video Lockout
White/Red = CCD (camera) input instant on +

RCA Cables:
Gray = Front Output
Black = Rear Output
Purple = Non-Fade or Subwoofer Output

If your stereo has a fuse it will be in line with the hot wire (usually a red and/or yellow). The neutral is usually the black wire.

Unless you crossed the neutral wire by cutting it, you probably didn't blow a fuse. Plugging in a wiring harness will not blow the fuse. You can go to an ie. Autozone store and buy a car fuse tester or use a volt ohm meter to check your fuses. With the volt ohm meter set to dc volts you could check the harness by touching the probes to the wires listed above where you will be looking for a 12 volt reading.

Don't forget to check the on/off button with the key turned partway on or in the position that displays the parking and interior lights.

try cleaning it with a car of air oand the a cleaning disc

check your connections on the radio. check the ground wire. it is very common that the ground wire is to blame.
