Power up failure

You have supplied almost double voltage to camera and in my opinion, it damaged the on-board few power supply parts like regulator IC etc. You should contact to nearest Sony Service Center as they service Minolta too. Here is Minolta customer notification for details.

Hi - My dimage 5

i recommend cleaning the contact for the battery with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. Make sure the springs are not too flattened down and that cover is not loose.

Bad focus when tacking pictures

I had the same problem and disabled the hand grip and full time autofocus. Works perfect now. I must have been doing something wrong with the hand grip in the act of shooting. In fact I sent mine back to the factory and it still wouldn't auto focus. It was my problem. I feel like a slice of cheese for sending it back.

Why can't I see lcd screen properly in the sun

When I can not see LCD screen when sun shines on it I use viewfinder , I think it tells you in the user Instruction manual if sun is so bright you can not see LCD use viewfinder .
