My Maxxum 7000 won't power up with new batteries
Good Afternoon,
it's very possible that you're still having a battery supply issue. When the battery compartment is tipped out to replace the one inside AAA battery you'll notice a small sliding contact it's very easy to overlook. I would suggest cleaning always contacts again using vinegar. Then wash it off completely, dry well and then reattach your batteries and try it again. Remember that the battery box has to be firmly in place and the retainer screw completely screwed in to activate the switch on the side of the camera to allow the camera to function. If you try this and it again fails it's also possible that your particular maxim had a used metering link installed just underneath the battery compartment that metering link can also fail when it does get acts as a crime or refuse and the camera won't function. The last thing I would check would be your primary backup battery which is located under the stainless steel plate that your batteries set up next to on the side of the camera it's held in the position by six screws. This is a 2025 battery and is easily replaceable. Please be sure and check your power supply first as this is 90% of the problems that we see in the shop good luck if you have any other issues feel free to contact me directly at

Sorry to hear you're having troubles with your Minolta. First thing I would do is make sure that the batteries you put in our good and that you do have power coming out of that battery box. He didn't mention whether the batteries had corroded or if there had been any corrosion previously. The rewind button on this camera will not reset until the camera again advances. In other words it is an automatic release on the camera fires the first time after a rewind. So as an beginning answer to your question I would check the batteries again make sure that all contacts are absolutely clean and as you may have noticed the battery boxes on the Minolta do pivot. The contacts under the pivot points also have to be clean. If you checked all of these issues and you're still having problems please feel free to e-mail me at,

Thank you good luck
Minolta maxxum 7000 wont turn on, I already
Hi,
If you're sure the batteries are new and working it's hard to say what could be wrong. If you're looking to have it looked at and repaired I'd suggest talking to Gus Lazzari, he's a wizard with 35mm cameras.
How do I clean the
Never touch lens elements or eyepiece with your fingers. If the lens becomes dirty,
clean it gently with a lens brush. Only if necessary, moisten a sheet of lens tissue
with one drop of lens-cleaning fluid. Then, starting at the center and using a circular
motion, lightly wipe the glass surface.
Never lift the mirror or touch its surface, as this may impair its alignment. Dust
specks on the mirror's surface will not affect meter readings or picture quality;
if they are annoying, have the camera cleaned with soft cotton buds or cloth.

Hi,
It's hard to say if it's worth it to fix as I can't say how much you value the camera and how much the fix would cost. My suggestion would be to talk to a camera repair specialist, although I don't know where you live, I'd suggest Gus Lazzari who's based out of California. If you need anymore help let me know =)
When you put the film
Hi,
I would definitely be concerned that the film is not advancing. I have a Minolta that has the same problem. I missed many a picture because I didn't pay attention to the meter showing the film advancing. I would just make sure the film is advancing by taking a couple shots with the back open before closing it.
If you are positive the film is advancing, it really doesn't matter what the meter says as long as the film is stopping after each exposure.
Finally, if the film is advancing , but the meter is not, and you want it to, you will need to see an experienced repairman to correct it.
Good luck.
Thanks for using Fixya.

The batteries leaked in the battery case, how do I
Remove old batteries asap and (use gloves) dry the the dirty with cotton swabs, discharging them as they get wet. Apply commom kitchen white vinegar with the help of a small paintbrush. Repeat 2-3 times. Dry with cotton balls. In general this helps. Be aware that the contacts coat (nickel, I suppose) have been gone. This demands a constant check (every week or so) to maintain them clean. I had this problem in an old Olympus Camedia C2000Z and the above procedure was effective in it.
