These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. If the screen unit which is in this set called a DISPLAY PANEL is bad you are finished--cost of part will exceed cost of this set new or even a new set to replace it.Typical 1,000 set the Panel will cost over 1200 just for the part.Google the model number with Display Panel but I bet none are listed.

To help I need to know what your problem is and confirm model number

Tries tv unplug,replug it back about an hour later for tv to do a resetting itself back to the factory setting.The tv now should be working again.If tv still have the same problems,the tv power supply board is the causes and the problems.That the board where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

As far as watching a DVD, I wasn't sure if your TV has a built in player or not. If you have a built in player simply insert the DVD and change the input channel to DVD. If you do not have a built in player, check to see how your DVD player is attached to the TV. Insert a DVD, then cycle through your inputs with your Input or Video Source button until you see the DVD playing.

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Yes, its lcd panel defect. Since tv is 5 months old so it would be under warranty, call Sony on number written on warranty papers to get warranty cover OR lcd panel replacement would cost you approx new tv price.

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
Each time you turn it on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
You may also notice a clicking when it power cycles when you first start it up.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.

I had a similar problem. I had a 52" RCArear projection tv. It would do this when I initially turned on the television, but then after a few "on/off, on/off, on/off" cycles it would stay on. Eventually it started doing it more; until finally there was a spark and that was it. The tv was dead.The bloggers called it "the blinking green light of death" (because of green light on the panel).The power board is going out.ALSO holding down the Input and Menu buttons afterward will give you some diagnostic information via 2 sets of blinking indicator lights.

You may very well have issues with capacitors on this set being that it is or very similar to the V26 chassis. Since I have spare test lamps laying around, I would normally try that first. If the lamp still would not stay lit, I would then suspect the electrical chassis (capacitors). When I suspect the chassis, I can usually verify it by pulling it out and partially disassemble it and find blown capacitors

"Dynamic contrast ratio compares the luminance of a 100 IRE (white) signal with that of a 0 IRE (black) signal. When the TV receives a 0 IRE signal the backlight is turned off and the luminance measurement is 0.00 cd/m . The resulting dynamic contrast ratio is infinite."
