Try first using a different SIM card. A defective SIM card may cause the troubles. Choose a compatible SIM card if the phone is not unlocked.

If problem is not the SIM, try doing a reset from settings menu. I do not think this will fix the problem, but it is a necessary step in troubleshooting.

If that does not work, try doing an hard reset. LG phones usually have a pin hole button at the back. The hard reset is done turning the phone off, then pushing a tip in the hole button while pressing the On button to start the phone at the same time. Such reset will delete all data stored in the phone.

If the model does not have reset button, all you can do is resetting from Settings menu.

If the reset does not help, next step is having the one year warranty validated and getting the phone replaced. Did you also instal DivX? On the disc you used to instal PC suite, you have the option to instal DivX. :) I had the same problem.
