Pentax Optio 330RS Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Need to download photos from camera to computer
Two ways - either attach the camera to a spare USB port on the computer with the supplied lead, and treat the camera as a satellite drive, or else remove media device and use a separate card reader to copy the images to the computer.
Free download Driver for Pentax
Consider NOT using a driver.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I had a similar problem where I was trying to download images at at friend's (I have XP at home and they had Vista) and a quick solution that worked for me is to use a card reader plugged into the PC instead of trying to directly connect the camera. Hope this helps? Andy

Sorry we got cut off from the live chat.
Here is the link to the manual if you need it;

It sounds as though you have a problem with the shutter speed, first check again all the settings are ok and normal, try reset to defaults (page 78) and see if you get any change.
It could be a mechanical problem, either sticking of the mechanism perhaps due to underuse or exposure to humidity or heat, or a problem with the drive motor for the shutter - maybe a battery problem giving a low voltage to the shutter drive, or to the clock in the processor slowing the shutter down. try a few very gentle slaps of the camera see if this frees something up, take the camera for a drive in your car on fairly rough roads for a while, or putting it on top of the washing machine (make sure it wont fall off) often works well to free up a stuck mechanism.
It is just possible that the screen is to blame - see if you can view a picture taken before the problem started, or with a different camera, to see if the screen is the problem.
Still no luck try pentax SA direct;

Pentax customer service is normally excellent, and their cameras are usually worth getting fixed.
Hope this helps, call me back if not :)
Optio 330 defect - buttons not working
I too have experienced problems with the buttons on my Pentax Optio 330. They have not been as dramatic as yours, but I believe they stem from the same problem. I talked to a Pentax Rep to indicated that this may be due to the main circuite board on the camera. Repair cost... Well lets just say that the first time it happened it was under warranty, and the second time, it's not... I'm not having it repaired... I'm switching brands.
To be fair I should say that when my Pentax has been working, it's been a fantastic little camera. I work in a retail environment selling cameras, and have noticed recently that almost all of the repairs we have coming into our stop has been the Pentax digital cameras. Because of this, I am getting a little worried and not repairing my camera.
Problem with 330RS
I fixed one of these for another person a few months ago by using a little bit of electrical contact cleaning spray which is available from electronics stores. I let a small amount of spray in around the shutter press button where it seaped into the switch. After a few presses it started to work reliably, and has been ok to this day to my knowledge.
Do not apply too much as it is unknown where any excess would go if it got loose inside.
Hope this helps
