Mitsubishi HS-U540 VHS VCR Questions & Answers
Hs-u54 vcr has snow on video
Head amplifier circuit/module could be the problem in your case. You could also check the power supply to see if any electrolytic caps are out of tolerance or have changed value and replace them if necessary.

Here are a couple of examples of similar VCR issues I've had; some years ago, I had a Panasonic NV-F70A, with snowy video playback, and, after a lot of investigation and exhaustive testing it turned out to be the video head amplifier module that was the problem (not the heads themselves which were new) - replacing the plug-in aluminium-cased module fixed it and restored the video picture as well as the stereo audio output and flying head erase. Power supply was OK and the whole VCR good to go.

With another Panasonic (NV-J11A), it was several out of tolerance electrolytic capacitors in the power supply (another metal-cased plug-in module) that caused the snow on screen, erratic tape counter, and slightly wobbly audio. Head amp was OK in this one. I replaced every electrolytic in the PSU - and after plugging the module back in and turning the VCR on, the playback picture and tape counter were soon restored to normal - after some soak-testing, the machine went home.
You may not need to do anything to or with your machine's power supply at all but it doesn't hurt to check anyway so that you can rule it out as a possible problem source.
How to connect dvd player to vhs
Screw the coaxial cable to the television...then screw in the other end into the antenna in on the vcr....after plug in the audio video plugs according to the colors given (yellow goes to yellow, white or red goes into the white)...then usually it has a switch what channel you wanna use it for....then enjoy!...
Mitsubishi HS-U540 VHS VCR
How
The RED is Right Speaker the WHITE is Left Speaker and the YELLOW is for Video. They connect with RCA Cables to the same color coded inputs on yout TV.You may find it easlier to just use a CoAxial Cable; Use a CoAxial for the CABLE IN to the Cable Box then 1 CoAxial from the Cable Box OUT to the VCR IN then use 1 OUT from VCR to TV IN. That is much easlier then using RCA Cables.

Mitsubishi U54 VCR Recording Speed
If you have a remote, there should be a button labeled "SP/EP" or "RECORDING SPEED." Otherwise, I might try looking in the VCR's main menu.
Onscreen display is in spanish
Do you have a menu or setup button on the VCR's remote? If you press that, you'll have to look in the menu until you find the language selection. Oh, wait. If it's in Spanish, you might need a Spanish to English dictionary, too.
Well, good luck, and just ask if you need more help. I hope I gave you enough info, but the menus vary with every VCR, so I can't be too much more specific.
Input selection
Many of the late VCRs have very limited funtion from the VCR buttons. Power, eject, play, perhaps channel selection, that is about it for most.
I assume you don't have the manual? Looked on Mitsubishi website, didn't list a manual for your specific model, perhaps another model would be close enough.
