MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:
UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER
LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.
PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv
for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.
Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:
1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error
2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection
2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******
2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem
2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem
******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the
fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no
voltage to convergence IC and shut down.
SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO
GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.
IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM
let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and two blinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.
if this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Hello Slinteriors. I have the same issue as the one posted by bcarlisle266 on Sep 16, 2008. It looks as though you emailed a solution but didn't say what it was. From your other posts I'm going to assume you recommend the repair of the capacitors on the DM board?
I pulled the board out last night but was surprised to see no bulges at all in the 7 capacitors on the board. I realize they could still be bad but had hoped for some sort of a visual confirmation.
Do you still think this is the best try for the same conditions bcarlisle266 stated of the continual blinking light? I am also unable to get any sort of an error code using the panel buttons. Please let me know what you think. I can be contacted at [email protected]
Thanks for the help
I had similar issue, but it was the front control panel, not the Caps. I had to just unplug the key panel and it works fine now. There are 2 connectors, a smaller white one and a larger black on. Disconnect the smaller white. You will have to use the remote, but it should fix.

the horizontal lines roll up and down really fast. the picture on the screen can be seen but not very clearly. the sound is fine but the lines are rolling up on the screen horizontally. the lines use to disappear after watching the TV for about 10-15 minutes but now the lines do not disappear
Answer
ONE: Yes, the speaker mounted close/near to the set
can be a cause of mischief; please move it further away and see if that
helps clear up the problem. But, you must keep it away for several
days before you will know for sure because it takes some time to
degauss all the internal parts that may have become corrupted by the
magnets in the speaker.
TWO: Yes, any set can be repaired the question is cost and wisdom.
Old sets are sometimes not worthy of the repair simply because of the
likelyhood that another failure will follow soon after. A big screen
always invokes a repair charge of $200 and up. After a few of these you
will wish you had put all the money into a new set!
THREE: The lines are most likely a problem in the vertical blanking
circuits of the set. These are horizontal retrace lines that are
supposed to be blanked out during vertical retrace of the raster.
Think of it as a paintbrush that scans across the screen painting thin
lines and when you get to the bottom of the screen it goes quickly back
to the top, but during that time the horizontal, which is many times
faster, has made several sweeps; so it must be blanked out during the
retrace. The repair involves finding the guilty parts and replacing
them. Usually this repair runs over the $200 somewhat.
FOUR: Prior to calling in a service tech try a hard reset to see if
that will recover any of the circuit degradations. Merely unplug the
power cord and leave unplugged for 4 hours or more. It may help. Or,
it may not help; but worth a try since is won't cost you anything.
If the set is over 5 or 6 years of age it probably is not a condidate
for any expensive repair. On the other hand, it is a Toshiba - and
they make a fine set.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further thoughts.

My rear projection television will boot up by having that little green flashing light for about 70 seconds then i try to turn it on and the green light stays solid for about 3 seconds then powers off. I did the self diagnosis and got error code 23, i replaced the capacitors and also the IC chip(the chip STK393-110 behind the big heat sink and applied thermal paste), i still get error code 23. I have read on many forums about PICO fuses and i'll change all of them if that can help, i don't know how to use a multimeter(yet) to check the voltages on all the things on the board. With the multimeter is it necessary to unsolder every piece to check the voltage? I will check every piece if i knew how to do that properly so i can replace them.
I've been on this problem for over a month now and i don't have the money to pay a technician to fix it, i am proficient in soldering. Also i know the error code 23 Horizontal Deflection failure but i have no idea what that means. If there is anyone out there who can help me it would be awesome and i would appreciate it, also pictures of the parts i need to check would be nice since i'm not really sure what they look like although i can see the numbers and letters besides all the parts.
I hope that is enough information for someone out there to help me, if you need more information please don't hesitate to ask, thank you
A 23 error is loss of horizontal deflection First thing to check is the solder joints around the Flyback and around the two transformers T5A31 and T5A32. If you resolder those three items then pull the Q5A31 HOT ( Horizontal output transistor ) from circuit. If you send me a email to [email protected] I will walk you through how to test the various components in the Horizontal deflection circuit and help you get your set up and running again.

I have a Mitsubishi HDTV 1080, model #WS-55511 and the green power light is blinking on and off. We've used the paperclip to reset the machine and it doesn't work, and we've unplugged the power supply for a few minutes; repowered and this doesn't reset the TV. What should I do now?
replace the capacitors on the DM board. Heres a link to the repair kit which contains the replacement capacitors and instrucions of how to do the repair.

Oct 1, 2008 - Tried to turn-on our WS-55511 and all we get is a continously blinking green light on the front-panel. Tried the front panel reset (with the paper clip) but still no go.
I checked the manual and unplugged for days then pluged-in and again a continous blinking green front-panel light. I again tried the front panel reset (with the paper clip) but still no go.
Can anyone recommend a next step? I'm frustrated with Mitsubishi - thier web site is absolutely no help! - purchased 08/30/03 new - this TV has got to be able to last more than 5 years. Send comments to: [email protected] Thank you!
I had the same problem with the blinking light on the front of the TV and it would not power up. I read all the problems everyone was having and thought I was going to face a huge repair bill. The service guy came out, pulled off the front panel where the speakers are and disconnected the circuit for the front display panel. 3 1/2 minutes in my house, $90 service call. Apparently, when you give the TV too many commands at once, it's safety feature is to"shut down and lock up". He mentioned also that sometimes when these sets get to be about 4-5 years old, the wires in front can "leak" causing a shortage and then locking up the TV. I keep the circuit unplugged and operate the TV solely by the remote. Give it a try, what can it hurt!! Hope this helps.

My Mitsubishi hdtv 1080 Integrated model
has a flashing power light. It won't turn on or take any other camands.
Model # WS-55511
Easy fix, pull the DM board ( box with the digital audio orange plug to the left of the patch bay)
this box has several multi cable plugs , but all are labeled with a two letter system and so is the board where they go this makes it easy to put back together
Pull out and open the box ( about 12 screws and then pull the cover off) you will see a small board with 3 cables attached, pull this board by removing the 4 screws and then replace the 7 capasitors with a 25v 1000mf or 35v 1000mf either will work, the 25 volt fit a bit easier. make sure to put the longer leg in the + position on the board! ~ now replace everything and enjoy your set!

i recently was given a mitsubishi ws-55511 55 in tv it has the blinking green timer light that keeps flashing what might be the problem and any idea on repair cost?
First you can try pushing the reset button located on front of tv where power button is located. If that fails to correct the problem then I would suspect the DM module has failed. They are not available for replacement. Some shops rebuild them by replacing the defective capacitors with some success others might send it to a company such as PTS to be rebuilt also with some success. Repair prices will vary from 275.00 - 375.00 depending on your location

On my Mitsubishi WS-55511 all of a sudden the image is showing double. I was watching TV and suddenly this occured. The behavior is as follows:
While watching HD programming on cable, "ghost" like images appear on the right and left side. Middle of the screen appears fine.
While watching DVD the left side seems fine, but double images increasing to the middle and right.
Can't adjust anything from the convergence menu.
The TV is 6+ years old. Is it worth repairing? Local techs want $125 to diagnose. Been repaired once for some other problem back in 2006.
No,need to diagnose. It a 100% convergence problems.Convergence problems very easy diagnose. The picture look like 3D,colors lines don't lines up.Fuzzy, out of focus.Convergence controls don't work to lines up any colors cross. The tech is cheating u if he said cost $125 to diagnose. If u know how to solders u could fix this convergence problems about $100.U can buy a convergence kit at Websites Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com.The shop everythings fix parts and labors only $300.

reset preformed
green light blinks, goes off
push power button
power button turns green, then shuts down
YOU GOTTA REPLCE THE STK ICS OR THE CAPS ON THE DM BOARD
