This means the anode voltage to your CRTs (RGB) is too high or your controlgrids have failed to slow the electron beam from the cathode down. What you need to do if you do not have electronics experience is to have a qualified TV technician take care of this problem. As a suggestion have him check the HV on the CRT anodes and the voltage doubler which the IHVT goes into. In any event get the set checked and repaired by a qualified technician.
Thank you,
I hope this helps

No power to tv
Hello Olsol,
This is an indication of a problem in the power supply. This problem can be in the switching power supply or in the high voltage power supply in either case there is some overcurrent or overvoltage condition which is cuasing the issue. Look for blown fuses and replace them, once this is done power on the set. If this works then great, but if not look at what is happening prior to the fuse blowing. Then using the schematic and a voltmeter attempt to find the shorted or open components by the lack of proper voltage readings. However if you do not have a background in electronics, I would suggest that call a TV repair shop and have this TV repaired.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,

Comes on for a few seconds and cuts off
If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages.
Coolant leaks from the CRTs are a common problem on these sets and if the chassis was moved this is even more likely.
Apart from that, it's hard to tell.
I heard a lot of mitsubishis have the same symptom, but It's still hard to say anything without testing the TV with special equipment.
If you open it up you might find a blown fuse, but that's also a symptom, and just replacing it will probably cause more trouble when it blows again. More likely several capacitors have each gone slightly out of their original value and caused multiple transistors, diodes, and ICs to fail.
This means if you don't troubleshoot and test enough components, you could end up finding ten bad components, replacing them, and then an 11th bad part causes the ten replacements to fail again.
Good luck
T.V. TURNS OFF
Sounds like somethings over heating if you smell something. The wise thing to do if you know nothing at all about the tv repair is to call someone unless you feel convident enough to open it and look around very carefully and see if you can describe whats over heating or burning as if you keep turning on the set and it keeps smelling it will burn something out thats not burned out now.
