I fixed this by getting the service manual at http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=32177
You don't have to sign up or pay anything; it's a free download.
Grab the first three parts and unrar them. In the service manual there is a section that shows you how to get into the Circuit Adjustment Mode (MENU, 1,2,5,7.) At the time of my repair I had a really bad bulge shape in my display. I was able to straighten everything out by adjusting values in there. There is a section in the manual that tells you what values to change; can't remember them offhand. You'll also want to perform a convergence adjustment after you straighten out the screen, as your colors won't be pointing in the right direction afterwards.

try to resolder the convergence amp ICs that may help if not the ICs may need to be replaced. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hello videopro4uJC,
I gave this advice out before and it applies in this case so here goes:
What is happening is that your convergence amplifier modules are
beginning to go bad. These amplifiers are what amplify the signals used for convergence (how the RGB lights line up on each other) when they go bad the RGB lights tend to bow towards the center of the TV and the colors begin to mis-align. There are many sites devoted to doing the changing of the amplifiers yourself, however although these sites are
accurate and give the instructions on how to change the amplifiers they do very little for
actual troubleshooting and finding the underlying cause of the problem. In most cases its just that the amp modules have gone bad, but sometimes there is an overheating problem that triggers the damage. I would suggest having a TV repair person come to your place to check the problem and to fix it. The repair should cost about $250.00
Mitsubishi VS-50609 The red convergence is messing up
The convergence has gone crazy on you because your convergence IC's have gone bad.
These IC's operate at a very high temp, and usually only last 4-5 years.
If you remove the back of the set, you will want to look for the BIGGEST heatsink in there, on that heatsink, you will see 2 lage IC's , probably STK392-110, or STK392-120's or something close...regardless - you can go on ebay to order the new ones, but MAKE SURE they are Genuine SANYO IC's and not counterfiet cheapies. the cheap ones may only last 2 months..
You will also need some "Heat transfer paste" - you can pick this up at radio shack.
Once you remove the old IC's, test all the large resistors near them.. pull one side of the resistor out of the board so you can check it out of circuit. they will usually have the value in Ohms, printed directly on the resistor, but you may have to use the resistor color code to find out what value they are....However, usually if there is any damage, the resistor will look like it has been HOT or fried. replace the IC's and any bad resistors, and you should be good to go.
If after replacing the IC's and any defective resistors, the convergence is still bad, make sure to use a multimeter to check ALL fuses on the boards, --- sometimes when the IC's go, they will take out a fuse to the convergence power supply. If you find any bad fuses, replace them accordingly!
If this STILL doesnt make it look right, you will need to find out how to get into service mode and do a coarse convergence adjustment. This information can be found in the Service manual for your set. If you sont have one you can download it at servicemanuals.net
Hope that helps!
My VS-50609 Big Screen tv
Maybe your colour setting is wrong or worse your color tube is no good. You will have to change the screen settings (color). If it wont work probably color tube is gone.
Good Luck

I gave this advice to someone with this same problem so here it is again:
It sounds like your shutdown circuit is being activated. This is due to excess current being drawn. This usually happens in the High Voltage section of the TV or one of the deflection stages. Due to the nature of this problem I would suggest that you take it to a
local TV repair
shop or have a TV
repair person come out and take a look at the issue. The HV section is dangerous and should be dealt with by a qualified TV repair technician.
Thank you,
I hope this helps

No picture no sound
Hi,
Probably, the selftest fails while turning on. If this is the case, press input&menu buttons at the same time for 5 seconds, then the green led will start to blink. Let me know how many times the led blinks.

Hola que tal!
Hola,
saludos y suerte.

Hello elarka,
I believe that you are having HV voltage problems either with the SMPS or the HV Power supply. The shut down circuit is activating. This might be due to a component in the HV or SMPS section. I would suggest having a TV tech look at the set.
I hope this helps
Thank you,
