Could be h.v. splitter.pull the lead coming from the flyback that enters into the h.v.splittter. Put lead in a quart jar and turn the set on and see if you hear a hissing sound, if you don't see a blue arch also. If set stays on then h.v.splitter is bad.

These sets have had issues with loose solder connections on the Yoke connectors at the Yoke themselves. Particularly the Horizontal
section of the connectors. Re soldering all the connectors on the Yoke could well fix it. You can gain access to them by removing the front panel. If do not have a electronic back ground I do not recommend you to attempt this, call a professional.

No picture after hooking up DTV box, Heart Beat sound
Uninstall the DTV Box and scart leads completley. If the box id new take it back to the store and ask them to connect it to one of their TVs or u connect to another TV in your House. The retailer may swap it if faulty. Other than that, Tap the DTV Box 3 or 4 times on the top, blow out all the connections or use a vacuum cleaner this will clear dust and re connect and re install.

What a great tv this is Mitsubishi did a fine job making this one, but......only an authorized mitsubishi servicer should repair it. This set records diagnostic led codes that the technician receives to help determine where the problem might be, not the problem, but in which circuit it might be. The one thing to try is, unplug the tv , let it set for a minute, plug it back in , turn it on and hope it reset the micro. Next , call for mits. service.

What is happening is that your convergence amplifier modules are beginning to go bad. These amplifiers are what amplify the signals used for convergence (how the RGB lights line up on each other) when they go bad the RGB lights tend to bow towards the center of the TV and the colors begin to mis-align. There are many sites devoted to doing the changing of the amplifiers yourself,however although these sites are accurate in give the instructions on how to change the amplifiers they do very little for actual troubleshooting and finding the underlying cause of the problem. In most cases its just that the amp modules have gone bad, but sometimes there is an overheating problem that triggers the damage. I would suggest having a TV repair person come to your place to check the problem and to fix it. The repair should cost about $250.00

I have the same problem just called Sony and they have extended the warranty to fix the color problem until June 2009. They have a tech coming out.
No picture or sound
Hi there
Try replacing the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section.
I started with replacing (2) 860uf 180v caps just after the bridge
rectifier and continued along the circuit. Some (15) or so capacitors
later, it fixed the intermediate problem of no video,
when turning on the power.
