The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Sound , but no picture
TV has sound but no picture. It would work after turning on and off a time or two. Now all i get is sound and a black screen.
I have an old mitsubishi
You either have a cold solder connection on the vertical output IC401 or a failure of the Vertical output IC altogether. The part number should be labeled clearly on the front of the chip and is likely LA7836 or LA7837. It's difficult to reference parts on a set this old. Remove the chassis and visibly inspect the solder connections. If they look good, replace the chip. Good luck

Have a Mitsubishi Big Screen,
Hi dejjjavuu,
You have 50% chance that it is a bulb problem but you have a ballast board that supply the bulb also. The problem is, this board needs to check with an experienced technician for fault. But for me I've suspected also the bulb most especially if the unit is more than a year old, you can't test this bulb unless swap a new working bulb in the ballas board that's why you need to call an expert. However if you have a spare bulb you can swap it and try.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
THE COLOR ON THE SCREEN IS TO DARK
If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as

You may have one of two problems. Let's go with my first solution. I would say the signal board is on the fritz. This is the board with the RF connections and RCA jacks. Another clue is you may occasionally receive a picture on the TV.You have a convergence IC that is in need of resoldering or replaced. The IC or ICs will have the STK 392-XXXX series. You will of course check the low ohm (under 10 ohms) 2 watt resistors, near the ICs, check and replace as needed. I would also check the capacitors near the ICs as well. The second problem may be in the board next to the signal board. This is the power supply. There is a vertical IC that has been unseated. By this, I mean the pins have been separated from the board itself. These should be resoldered, and any capacitors next to this IC checked and replaced as needed. Hope this will clue you in a repair. If you cannot do this yourself, ask a TV tech to do so. Show the tech this info. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.
I have a mitsubishi VS-5043....It
Hello,
Yes, it can be repaired. There is so much heat inside the unit that is why it shuts off. When the heat gets high, then a component gets melted inside the unit.
The component that is most likely to get bad is a capacitor. Once a capacitor gets bad or melted, it begins to malfunction, like tripping off frequently, and other kinds of problem. Run a check on the power board and the main board for any bad capacitor and replace it with a new one.
Take care and good luck
